Burt, the present managlng-r-celver. la first choice for president, with 8. M. Felton, formerly president of the Alton and L. B. Cass, general manager, for second choice1. Of these three It Is said Mr. Falton I closest to J. P. Morgan, who will have the power to choose the official head when the time comej. Mr. Cass is said to be the dark horse and to have a splendid chance of elec tion. His management of the road has been acceptable to all and it Is said that he may remain with the road If he desires. He has extensive Interests in Iowa and these may have something to do with mak ing up his decision. It li now thought there will be but one bidder for the road and that will be a representative of the J. P. Morgan syn dicate. There Is some talk of other bid ders. The recorded cost of the road Is over 175.000,000, which Includes all equipment as well as tracks and termlnaJs. The price set by the court, therefore, is a good In vestment. The company owns 1,643 miles of track, tapping some of the best dis tricts in the Mississippi valley. Used as a feeder It would he valuable to any east ern road or to one of the Hill lines as a connection to Chicago. A. B. Stickney, f rmer president of the road, says he thinks the Great Western will ultimately become a part of one of the largo systems.' Troop to March for Ak-Sar-Bcn Large Number of Uncle Sam's Sol diers Will Assist in Festivities This Autumn. Twenty companies of cavalry, a battery of artillery and a cavalry pack train will comprise a part of the regular army that will asslnt in enlivening things at Omaha during Ak-Far-Ben. The troops participating will be head quarters, band, and the First and Third squadrons of the Second cavalry; two squadrons of the Fifteenth cavalry, one squadron of the Fourth cavalry, two squadrons and the pack train of the Seventh cavalry and Battery E, Sixth field artillery. This will embrace approximately 2,500 regu lar cavalry and lM artillerymen with their paraphernalia and equipments, which will constitute the largest body of regular troops ever seen in Omaha.
