However, they made up In quality for what they lacked hv number, the yard being full of very good well-flnlhed beeve. In fact. It I a ques tion if there ha been so many long-fed cattle here on any recent days as there were this morning. The trade on beef steers was not active, packers picking out such stuft aa they wanted at prices about ateady with 11 week's close. On the other hand, the feel ing was generally weak and price In nrny cases quite a little lower. Some of the same cattle that brought 86 90 the mid dle of last week sold at 26 U today. Several loads of prims steers sold up to 37.00. Cows and heifers were slow sailers, and while some of them brought about steady prices, the feeling, as was the case with beef rattle, was a little weak and the tendency lower, unlesa on something very good. There were a few lots of feeders and the market on that kind of cattle was generally tead y. The first reports Indicated a break of 510o at Chi cago and sellers who could get steady or even a trifle easier prices than last wk thought thy were doing exceedingly well. A little later on when It became apparent that Chicago Instead of being lower was rsslly a llttl higher hlppra began pay ing higher prices for such hogs a they could use. that were about 60 highep than Saturday. Packers, however, did not at any time pay better than ateady prices. The market as a whole might be quoted as anywhsr from steady to 6c higher than last week's close.
