Boatmen on the Des Moines river are
objecting to the location of the state rifle
range north of the city of Des Moines.
They claim that every time they pass the
range they are endangered by th bullets
of the national guardsmen who are out
practicing. The targets are so placed thai
the bullets pass through the target and
across the river Into a hill. Red flags and
a warning sign are posted and the boat
men out for, a pleasure trip must stop and
approach the range from a safe side and
ask that the shooting stop until they get

belongs to the government and the boats
men claim they will take steps to have the
thing changed so they can pass in safety.

to a number of prominent Washington
exhibitors. They have man county ex

is the best part. These exhibits are really
wonderful. I am trying to secure a canned

we can get Washington interested enough
to secure a great state exhibit in addlilon
to the many county and sectional exhibits.
Mr. Chapman says he will be with us again,
although the Wenatchee fruit crop Is not
as large as last year, but there will be
plenty of good fruit.
