Total 11 6.069 CATTLE There was the usual Saturday's dearth of cattle on the market today, noth ing of any consequence helng on sale, for the week the receipts have been light, showing a. falling off of over 1,000 head as compared with last week's moderate run and of about 6.000 head as compared with last year. At the same time that receipts are becoming lighter, the cornfed cattle are becoming better In quality, but with a liberal sprinkling of grass stuff!. The week started out with a litUe better feeling In the cattle market, considerable Improvement being made during the first half. During the latter half of the week the trade was less brisk and prices eased ofi quite a little, still at the, close of the week beef steers of good quality are generally 10'i6o higher than one week ago. On the other hand, buyers, without ex ception, are discriminating against any thing showing grass. Medium and common cornfed steers have been slow throughout the week and are no better than steady. As high as 37.00 was paid this week for the best steers, being the highest price reached since January. No great change has taken place In the market for strictly good dry-lot cows and heifers. Cattle of that description would In all proboblllty sell as high as any time of late. On the other hand, graasers have been alow, not only here, but at all other market points, and prices are generally BOo lower than one week ago, which means 60iff75o lower than ten days or two weeks ago. very few fleshy feeders have arrived during the week and prices In consequence have shown little change. On the other hand, the general run of fair to medium feeders and all classes of stock cattle are around 2f(4Ac lower than last week, due to the larger receipts and to the sharp break In prices In that kind of cattle at other selling points. Quotations on Cattle: Oood to choice cornfed steers, K50(3i7.00: fair to good cornfed steers, 86.OOi516.6O; com mon to fair cornfed steers, 85.00-y.OO; good to choice cornfed cows and heifers, 8&.00. 8.85; fair to good cows and heifers, HOOai 8.00 common to fair cows and heifers, 3200 (34.00: itrick heifers, 33.2504.00; veal calves, 84.0Orf7.O0; bulls, stags etc:, (3. 25$ 5. 40; good to choice stockers and feeders, 34.604f.30; fair to good stockers and feeders, 84 QO 4.50; common to fair stockers and feeders, 83.001T4O0. HOUS Generally sold 60 higher this morning, but the trade was not very active at the advance. In fact some of the pack ers were decidedly bearish In their views and very much opposed to any Increase In values. Still, there was a fair demand end the hogs kept selling, practically every thing being cleaned up In good season. Common, light hogs were discriminated against to some eitent and they possibly In all rases were not 6c higher. A large proportion of the hogs sold at 87 a7 W and on up as high as $7.66 for the best heavy loads. Receipts of hois this week show little change as compared with last week, but a gain of about 6.000 head over a year age. The market as a whole has been In very good rondtlen during the week although at the beginning there was a slight break In prices. After Monday the market firmed up. reaching the extreme high point of the year on Thursday. Friday's market eased off a little, but the loss was made good by today's advance, so that It may be aid that the week closes at the high point of the year. Representative sales: No At. BIl T. It has peon a peddling, erratic trade in the sheep barn since the opening this week. As was nofod yesterday, the official count for the last five days Is not materially different from the total for the corresponding five days last week. The bulk of this week's sup plies, however, has consisted ef bona f'.de offerings, while last week's receipts were largely packers' stock, consigned direct Outside of a trainload ef California sheep, mostly spring lambs and wethers received the first of the week, the demand this week has had to be content with a light supply of poor quality. Choice fed killers have been conspicuously absent, which means that the market has reached Its transitory stage, leaving prime muttons on a quotable basis. Reports from other points as well Indicate a paucity and poorer Quality of receipts. It will be easily under stood that the live mutton trade at hls time of the year Is very difficult to analyse. One trader who dlposd of his offerings at a preity good figure summarised the week's trade as nominally steady. Another flaced the value level at 2f40c lower than ant week's close. Practically no two op erators called the extent of a decline the same. The undercurrent to the trade has undoubtedly been much weaker during the last few days and the uncertain tone and choppy values have left quotations open 10 argument. The generat market, however, is right around steady to 25c lower than last week's close. She wants a range that will heat up all over on top and the oven In ten min utes, cook a meal and bake bread with two or three little shovels full of coal. She wants a beautiful baker ,and smooth worker and one that will last and don't need repairing every little while. Mrs. Plumb, 2907 Izard bought a Queen of us last February. A week ago she said: "It does all you said It' would. One of our neighbor bought a range from a canvasser last fall. It has a fire box as big as a trunk, takes a bucket of coal and an hour to heat up. She la going to sell it and get a Queen." Prospective buyers of gas stoves after they have seen others and then see the Detroit Ideal, the 1908 pat tern, admit the fact that there Is nothing sold in Omaha In the shape of a gas stove that compares with it. It stands distinctly In a class by It self. It has more good points than would be possible to name here. The principal ones are the new patent uhallow one-piece drilled burners that have proven by practical tests to give a much hotter heat with the same gas. the patent pressure regulator. ' Mrs. Warwick, 4635 Douglas, who was the first to get one of the 1909 patterns, says: "I consider myself fortunate In getting such a charming cooking apparatus. I am more than pleased with It." .4 MSWyZ 1 I Hundreds of people are attracted to our show window every day by a Cold Storage Refrigerator.
