Omaha, 1; Lincoln, 8.
Omaha barely escaped a shut out at the
hands of Schoolmaster Jones out on , fa's
lot Tuesday, while on the other hand the
Prohibitionists pounded. John . Lower all
over the lot for twelve hit, which coupled
with live bases on balls and three errors,
netted elgbt runs. ! TUe only run Omaha
made was earned by a two-sacker by Kane
and lone flies by Schlpke and Pendry to
Davidson. '
When Pa announced .that Lower was to
pitch, the wise fans took It for grantod
that another game was stored away In
Pa's vest pocket, but they reckoned with
out considering the luck of base ball or
Johnny Jones. Everything contrived to
beat the Rourke tribe and nothing went
right.
Waldron hit the first ball pitched and
King let It glide gracefully between his
legs and that was the start of the trouble.
Davidson fell down on an attempt at sac
rifice and then Lower hit Jude and passed
Thomas. Oagnler hit to Lower, who held
Dave on third for a moment and then sub
dued Gsg at first, but Dave scooted for
home and the ump said he was safe.
The third was the really bad lnnlnc
of the game, for In that Inning Skipper Bill
had his only fielding chance In the game
and he signalised the event by making a
three-base throw, which allowed two
runners to cross the plate. Davidson had
opened with a long two-base fly to right,
which was out of Welch's reach. Jude
hit to the pitcher and Dave went to third.
Thomas singled and Davidson scored.
Oagnler singled and went to second on
the throw to oateh Thomas scooting for
third. Then came the Skippers famous
throw. Sullivan bunted one In his direction
and Bchlpke made a neat, one-handed
pick-up and then threw the ball away,
while Thomas and Oagnler crossed the
plate and Sullivan went to third. Scrappy
Mason struck out and Prltchett hit a
double down the first base line, which
scored Sullivan.
Foi Was Oat, Too.
Lincoln presented a changed lineup. Cap
tain Fox Is still out of the game with a
bad leg from being hit by a pllcned ball
Sunday. Thomas was moved to second
and Sullivan played first, while Mason,
the University of Illinois catcher whom
George Huff sent to Green, caught. The
change worked well, for not an error was
made by the Lincoln team and every
man on the team but Scrappy Mason got
a hit.
With Omaha still drawing goose eggs
the Problhltlonlsta made another In the
tlxth. Jones drew a pass, was sacrificed
:o second by Waldron and came home on
Davldsoji'a single. Gagnler scored one In
the seventh on a single, a stolen base
nd Sullivan' single. In the ninth Thomas
opened with a double, was sacrificed to
'.hlrd by Oagnler and came home on Sul
llvart's sacrifice fly to Pendry.
The saving score on the Omaha tally
sheet was made 1n the eighth Inning- Kana
opened with a two-base drive and was
boosted along by long sacrifice hits by
Schlpke and Tendry.
Des Moines opens here today and Per
rlne will he In the lineup for Omaha.
The score:
OMAHA.

Three) double plays, two by Omaha' and

Lower had Scrappy Mason on his list

Umpire Mullen went around with a chip
on his shuuirier and nearly had trouble
several times, but he pulled through on the
top or me neap eaon time.
Cadman was hit on his' sore foot bv
foul tip, but after limping around for a
short time bravely continued the game,
although. Pa Rourke wanted him to retire.
In the the third Inning with one out.
King and Welch singled, but Kane and
Schlpke failed to deliver the goods. Kane

DENVER, June 8. Two singles, a base
on balls and two doubles sent Wasson to
the stable in the first Inning of today'
game. The lead Pueblo thus obtained was
enough. Denver played a good up-hill
game, but could not get the needed runs,
though twice a hit would have tied the
score. Bonno wss sent to the bench In the
lath inning after two bases on balls and
a urea-Dagger sad given Denver to runs
