Sunday.
CATTLE There were no fresh receipts
of cattle this morning, at least none of
any consequence, ami as practically very
thing was cleaned up yesterday, the market
was bare of supplies, which Is the usual
situation on a Saturday. The receipts for
tne week root up over 17.000 head, being
a slight falling off aa compared with last
week, but a gain of about 10,000 head aa
compared with the corresponding week of
last year. A feature of tho weeks run
has been the large proportion of good,
heavy cattle that have been received. In
spite of the fact that the price of corn has
been high, It Is very evident from the
number of finished heavy cattle arriving
that feeders have practiced less economy
in the matter of reeding corn than might
be expected under existing conditions.
Owing to the fact that all market points
have been very liberally supplied witn
heavy beef steers In the face of a small
export demand, the market on that kind
of cattle throughout the week has been
dull and prices locally are 1015c lower.
Handy light and medium weight cattle of
good Quality have been in moderate ruppiy
throughout the week, and as they have
been most sought after by buyers, prices
on that kind have been fully steady or
even strong. The trade on this latter kind
of rattle has been active at this point
every day throughout the week, while
heavy cattle have been more or letss of a
drsg.
Cows and heifers, especially the better
kinds, have been free sellers all tne wee,
without any material change In current
flrures. On the other hand, common to
medium aradea have shown a little weak
ness and are around 10c lower than one
week ago. ...
The supply of stockers and feeders has
heen extremelv lliht all the week. While
the demand has not been very large, there
have been a few buying oraara ana more
than Miild he filled. As might be expected
under such conditions, the feeling on the
market has been very strong ana me
tendency a little higher although on moat
days there have been naraiy enougn rumc
to make a test of the market or establish

niwirt The market this morning opened
slow to 6c lower and quite a number of
hn sold on that baels. later on, under
the Influenr.a of a good buying demand
and encouraging advices from other selling
points, the market took on more life and
strength, becoming active and strong to
5o higher than yesterday. The eariy ar
rivals were all disposed of In good season
In the morning. A considerable proportion
aold at Inside the range, 86.9O?j7.20.
Ree.elntH of Iioks this week have been
very liberal, showing a gain of over 111,000
head, as comDared wltn last ween ana oi
27,0u0 head as compared with two weeks
ago, and U.ouu neaa as compared wnn a
year ago. The market has fluctuated to a
considerable extent. Thus at the beginning
Of the week It eased off a little, but ad
vanced sharDlv on Tuesday and was con
siderably higher on Wednesday. Thursday
was the high point or the week, nogs sell
ing that day the highest of the year,
which means the highest of any time since
March, 1W3. The sharp break on rioay
wirjea out a good share of the advance,
but still at tha close of the week the mar
ket is a shads higher than It was one week
ago.

SHEEP There mere no sheep on sale
today, as Is generally the case on Satur
day. The sheep market this week has pre
sented a rather frothy appearance, espe
cially during the earlier purl of tne week.
This due largely to the extremely llmltod
receipts, buyera picking up loads that
suited them at almost record price Again,
loads of practically the same quality on
the following day might sell at a decline
under the price paid, with the bulk of sup
plies quotably steady on that day. The
greater advauua and fluctuation of valuo.

of course, was more apparent on the bet
ter quality stock.
Receipts this week have been the lightest
of any week this year, about 11.000 head In
all. The feature In Itself, makes the mar
ket very difficult to call at Its true level
and the limited assortment makes It even
more difficult to correctly analyse. The
prices put on between 25c and 35c, the ad
vance differing according to quality.
Wooled lambs were good enough to make
89 25, only a dime below the highest price
ever paid on this market. During the re
mainder of the week, values remained com
paratively unchanged so that the total ad
vance for the week la right around 85tf10c.
The proportion of feeding sheep marketed
during the last week was larger than usual,
but the demand for this class of stuff was
indifferent. Killers, as a rule, met with
quick sales.

BERLIN. May 29. -The Local Anselger's
Constantinople correspondent says that ha
learns from persons In high suthorlty that
the sudden recall of tha French ambas
sador, M. Constans, and ths Russian am
bassador, M. Dlenovleff, was due to tha
discovery In tha Ylldls palace records that
Abdul Hamld had paid M. Constans 2,000
Turkish pounds monthly and M. Dlenovleff
1,000. Tha cabinet, the correspondent says,
forthwith Informed tha Paris and St.
Petersburg governments, which ordered tha
recall of the ambassadors. He adds that
the payments were effected through pan
glrl Bey, one of tha directors of the Otto
man back, who recently disappeared.
Aocordlng to tho correspondent the
archives also contained compromising let
ters and receipts for money signed by
Ktamll Pasha, grand vlsler, which led to
his arrest, and he asserts that evidence
against Ferrld Pasha, former minister of
the Interior, was found, and this started a
violent agitation In favor of forcing him
to retire from the cabinet.
"It Is also proved," tha correspondent
says In conclusion, "that Tewflk Pasha,
ex-grand vlsler, snd now ambassador at
London, played a double role. So many of
the membera of the old regime were be
smirched by Abdul Hsmld's archives that
the Young Turks are agitating publicly ths
placing of all power In new hands.
