Omaha, f. Topeka. 4.
Errors ail over the lot eo?t Omaha the
fame with Topeka Tuesday for errors
war responsible for - each-- run Topeki
msd during Ahe afternboif. The Rourke
family played In far different form from
what the members displayed on the day
before, when Topeka waa ahut out and no
amount of itood pitching on the pa: I of
Johna eou'dn aave the it a me.
Omaha on the other handmade rime hits
to six for Topeka. but the big hit In the
pinch was always larking; and several
good chances tn score were thrown away.
In the first Inning King waa on third and
Pendry on ew-ond, mrn having made a
hit, but the neeVd afe one-.wos not
forthcoming; nor waa ev$ff a grounder on
which a score might he made. Kane flew
nut to Downey at abort. Welch waa paaaed
and Balden grounded fo second.
In the third Pendry and Kane both hit
safe, but both were caught trying to pilfer
second. The going waa too heavy for fart
work. -n haaes. With two out In the
seventh Fisher hit safe and King followed
with another. That wag' too much for
Cooley and he Vnked Mr. Hendrlx out of
the box and sent in Long K a tiff man. th
pitcher who had held Omaha to three hits
on the day before. Flatter and Kane
Initiated Mr. Kaufman Irtto the game by
making a double ateal on him. But that
did m.t phease him. He had been sent In
because Pendry was at bat and Pendry
h ad made two hlta already off Mr.
Hendrlx. But the judgment of Mr. Cooley
waa good for the beat Pendry waa able
to do was a grounder, td Downey.
Tracy Johna nltahed fr Omaha and
pitched a good game, 'but his support waa
very yellow. He allowed but six hlta and
did not pairs a man. Two of the alx' hlta
era made off Johns In the flrat Inning
after two were out, but Jag Andrewe only
knocked thebaU to penary who tagged
third and It waa all over for that Inning.
Cyrlone Hlta Omaha.
An a wfur calamity befell Omaha in the
alxth Inning, for In that' fatal aeaslon the
game was won. -Downey had been retired
when Fenlon followed with a single, his
second In th game. Fenlon haa been tak
ing a layoff and celebrated his return by
making three lilts. Ha has been clouting
the bail quite frequently this spring. An
drewe singled and put Fenlon on third,
while Andrewa went to second rn the
throw. . Tha Infield move In close on Mr.
Kunkle aa but one was out. Kunkle hit
the ball rtghjt on the nose, and It scooted
between King legs to the 'outfield, while'
two trotted home. Kunkle waa caught t -y-Ing
to ateal scoria; a,n'a Kahl few yut to
1 Welch, who made the feature catch of the
gam after a hard run.
In tha fifth McManua started the Inning
with a double arid Hendrlx was hit by
Johns. Wooley tried to bunt thorn around
and McManua was capf ureo;a,t Jhlrd. Beier
hit to John.' who again threw' to third, but
Pendry muffed th throw and Hendrlx
acored. The ball was loat under a drag
which la uaed to Smooth ' the diamond and
Flaher founfl It In tlma to catch Wooley
At th plat.
Pendry'a bad throw In the eighth coat
Omaha another run. Oeler reached second
on th mlahap, waa sacrificed to third by
Downey, and scored on Fenlon's third hit.
Kan hit the ball to tho right field fence
In th sixth Inning, but because of th
hard going and th way th ball bounded
bach, could get no further than first. He
went to second on Weleh'a Infield out and
scored on Beldens lngl.
Tha same team thla afternoon.

error. He said he always got hits On that
kind In Topeka.
Fisher made a splendid run In the mud
when he beat pjt a slow grounder to Dow
new. He beat a perfect pickup and throw.
Many a fan will have an old story tu
tell of how games have been won on lost
balls, the Incidents being recalled by the
last ball Tuesday,
Tlje top four men In the Omaha batting
order each made two hits. That sort of
bunching of hlta is generally conducive of
runs, but not so Tuesday.
Kane secured his first hit on the Omaha
grounds Tuesday. He then followed It
with a second. He haa been hitting the
ball out all the time since the return of
the team, but the balls refused to go safe
for him..
Fisher csme within an ace of stealing
McManua' hit away from him In the fifth
Inning. He probably would have caught
the ball after a hard run If he had not
fallen and aa It was, he got hla glove
against it.
