atralning order against the several mem
bers of the Board of County Commission
ers restraining them from opening a road
through a farm he owns four and one-half
milea west of Florence.
The road was recorded by the board In
18M, but that waa as far, says Pederson,
as the matter went, and he claims that
by non-use the mad iias been vacated.

CHICAOn, Mav 5 -My wheat advanced
to ll.!)', a new high record price, shortly
after the opening of business on the Board
of Trade today. July rose 1 cent from last
night's close to 31.17. Dry weather In Kan
sas and Nebraska were the new bullish In
fluences. NEW YORK. May 5 The record price
for May wheat was exceeded on the New
York grain market today when Its price
advanced 24 cents to $1.35. At the same
time July wheat went up m cents to
31. 22V Reports of a shortage In the supply
of cash wheat were associated with the
advance. There was also a rumor that a
pool had been formed to hold up the price
of tho July option.
Omaha wheat traders saw the market
open here Wednesday morning 1 cent
nigher lor July wheat, half a cent higher
for corn and a cent higher also for oats.
Cash wheat soM 3 cents blither than Tues
day before the noon hour had struck.
Prices throughout the day were In close
sympathy with those In Chicago and pre
sented further evidence that Mr. Pat-
ten's retirement to 4iis partner's ranch haa
not exactly knocked the bottom out of the
market.
Well posted men say that they look for
large deliveries of corn here at the end
of this mon'h and for a good movement In
this grain during July.

tion of taking his life. McDonald told the

tion. He had two suit cases and almost $100
with him when taken in charge. His home

Trestle Work.
Concrete piers and stone paving will take
the place of the frame trestle work nnd
wooden paving on the west approach to the
Omaha & Council Bluffs Street Railway
company's bridge across the Missouri
river at Douglas street. Permission to
make the change was granted by the coun
cil last night.
The council decided to let C. Epstein,
market master, hold his Job a while
longer, and placed on file a motion made
January 19 by Councilman Elsasser to
abolish the office.
Permission was given the Associated
Charities to use the council chamber on
the evening of May 20 for a stereopticon
lecture on the tenements of New York
City. Following the lecture, Health Com
missioner Connell will talk on local condi
tions. F. P. Hillman, proprietor of the Air
Dome, was given permission to stretch a
canvas covering over the seats In liia open
air playhouse.
