ing been committed on April 24, 1906. Being
without mean, Tore Telgen was appointed
by the court to confer with the defendant,
and after a conference a plea .of guilty .
was entered, accompanied by a plea on th
part of Attorney Telgen tht the court be

a forged deed.
It I alleged that Petinlaton No. 1 received
a letter from a Salem, 8. D., party, offer
ing to purchase a quarter ectlon of land
In Beadle county, and owned by Penniaton
No. 2. A deal was consummated 4uid th
first party received $4,800 for th land, giv
ing a deed therefor. It transpire by ex
amination of records, that he was not th
owner of the land, and 14 alleged not
only received letter. belonging to hi
cousin, but also negotiated the. sale and
pocketed the money without conferring
with Pennlsftn No. 2. The fact ware
brought to light by a' letter sent by the
tenant on the farm here, to Mr. Pennls
ton, asking If he could retain possession
of the land since It conveyance t the
Salem party. . Investigation followed and
Pennlston No. 1 waa arrested, partle going
from this city to Lafayette county, Wis
consin, to' attend the 'examination. "
