Anrll ll-There was a wavering tendency In the srock market to dsy which changed Its recent semblance or stability. The resumption of activities abroad after the K.sster holiday Interval was partly resnnnstble for this, the selllnc of stocks here for foreign account arguing some distrust of this market's rate of ad vance. An elment In the home speculation that feel the same ilistrtist 4s not lacking and its activities were joined to the de pressing Influence from abrosd to affect the market. This element urges tba lack of news bearing on events to account for tha rising tendency of prlcea and points out features In the trade and crop situation tt-at are claimed as making for decline rather than advance. Tha plethoric condl tlon of the nvney market Is alleged to be solely responsible for tha freedom with which speculative purchases of stocks are mrde and It Is pointed out that the specu latlve sctlvlty is common to atocks. wheat and cotton, although causes which re lie tha prlcea of those articles might be re garded as making against values of rsl road stocks. Sole reliance on cheap money to lift tha prices of stocks Is feared as leading to Inflation of values. Tha other party to the speculation urge Ihst cheap money la an Inevitable sfter effect of the financial crisis of 1907, which Is tin certain to stimulate renewed employ ment of capital In business a are the cuts In prlcea of material to Invito the renewal of conaumptlve demand. While the low money ratea are accepted, therefore, as result of present stagnation of mercantile demand, the condition there Is rlaimed si promising betterment and tberefore calling ror epeculmtlva anticipation. - Foreign markets were reported to be dls quieted to aorne extent by the disturbances In Constantinople and traders In the home market aold stocks in the late dealings on tha assumption that there may be further uneasiness abroad on that account In fu ture. A feature of the situation Is the renewed activity In tha bend market, which Is a reflection also of the abundant state of the money market. It Is noted that the sales of municipal bonds effected during March wera larger for that class than for any other month of record. This evidence of the abundance of capital and tha cheapness st which It can be had are calculated to Incite a revival of enterprises and are claimed by tha advocate of higher prices as a substantial factor in favor of that course. Some Of the operations for lower prices todsy came from speculators who had sold their holdings yesterdsy to meet the new demsnd from outside sources and having rea'.lted their profits in that way hoped to aee lower prices at which to re buy. The market was not lacking In points ot sttength and at times during the day the siiow of firmness extended generally through tha list. A conspicuous featur was Denver Rio Grande, regarding which rumors circulated of an actlvu Interest by E. H. Harriman in ita affairs. The Gould group aa a whole had some benefit by sympathy from this movement. On the other hand, soma of the other stocks which have been foremoat in the recent rise ware pressed for sale to take profits and this radiated a depressing Influence throughout tha list. United States Realty differed from tha keeping of the dividend unchanged, as there had been some rumors of an in tended advance. Th most of the cattle were killers, there being among the num btr some pretty well finished boives. as well as a sprinkling of fat cows an-1 he.f ers. The large run today following very liberal receipts yesterday placed buyers In a position wl.erir they could sfford to; iske their time In filling orders. It will be 1 membered that for timt littl time back ihe demand neither here nor at any other killing point has been very urgent owing to the light consumption st the large can ters of population, hence it waa not sur pr.sing that the genersl market this morn ing waa alow and very late. Buyers of beof sieers were In no hurry about getting out thla morning and the forenoon was very well advanced befjr the market had opened. , Ti e demand vtava only moderate nn the part of packers, b-it there were a few shipping orders winch helped out to some extent. Tha result w,ia that while the trade was slow the best cntt'e commanded about steady prices,) vi lilln other kinds were weak. Good cons and heiters, especially these thai were wanted for shipping, were hoc very much different from yesterday, but buyers seemed to feel that ttere was no necessity of f aying quite as much as thev hiive been doing of late,, with the lesult that the tendency was a Ultle eus4r 00 the general tun of stuff.
