tine shipments.
Caah wheat mi strong and hrought
fancy prices on a demand thst has not
been equaled for the present crop. Several
ara brought the record price of $1.14 for
No. 1 hard winter variety.
May wheat opened at II. IP and closed at
Corn was featureless, but steady, with
receipts light and ' cash offerings spsie.
Cash corn brought better prices, due to a
lack of offering ' and light estimated re
ceipts. May corn opened at Ktc and
closed at 'ie. .
Primary wheat receipts wers 489,000 bush
els and shipments-. were W.O bushels,
against receipts last year of 982.0fl0 bushels
md shipments of a4Am0 bushels.
Corn receipts were 819.WW bushels snd
shipments were ITS.OiiO bushels, against re
ceipts last year of 617.0OO bushels snd ship
ments of 421,00 bushels.
Clearances were 21&.0O bushels of corn.

The top for May was reached at 11.20
and for July at 11.08. The market cloaed

were barely steady and provisions rather

The advance of whoat prices to s new

mixed movement did not, however, ob
scure the absorptive power of the msrjet
and the effective character of new demand
which has come into the market in the
last few days.

material broadening of the participation
from miscellaneous outside sources, offer
ing so advantageous an opportunity to con
