An old one which has
never been accepted
As challenges seem to be la order. I will Issu a challenge
which appeared In the editorial column of the dally paper and
which waa copied by some of the trade papers about 10 months
ago. which waa about as follows:
In ordr to demonstrate the practicability of the Holaman
high wheeled machines over the pneumatia tire, high powr ma
chines, I proposed that a certain dealer appear before a committee
with anv one of the cars he represented, snd I before the same
committee at the same time with the Holsnian my competitor
was to have access to my machine for XD minutes to do snv
' thing he could In the way of putting It out of commission without
breaking aav parts or damaging the machine an that It could not
be put in condition with the tools that com wtth the machlns ss
per catalogue specifications. I to have the same time with his
machine. The only tools to be usd by either in pu'tlng their
opponents machine out of commission to be a pair of pi vera. At
the end of X0 mlnutea each opponent to take hla own machine,
put it In order without any aid or toola other than regular equip
ment, and drive to Fremont and return, the last one back to be
the loner. s ......
This challenge has never been accepted and Is still enen. Tr a
only further stipulation is that I operate the Holaman and the
competing machine must ha operated by the agent of the other
machine and not bv an expert mechanic. Thla challenge does aot
have to be accepted or test conducted ea any particular day.- I
am ready at any time after Saturday.
