The receipts for the four days this week foot up about the same as for the corre sponding period of last weektUnd the week before, but decidedly larger than a year aito. There was a decidedly better feeling in the market for bnef steers this morning. Buyers were around looking for. supplies and the market took on a more, active aspect right from the outset. The result vUs a farlly active trade, with prices steady to a little stronger. There was nothing very cnoice in signt to.maae a very high- top on the market. Everything ln the way. of desirable killers changed hands at an early hour. Cows and heifers were also in gooa de mand and the market on that kind of cat tle was ln about the same condition as the steer market, that is, the trade waa fairly active and everything changed hands ln fair season ln the morning at good steady to stronsr prieea t eeders commanded good nrm prices, at least the desirable kinds did, the same as they have all the week. The Inferior grades sold about as they have the last few days, but the trade was not active, a notable sale was a bunch of very high bred Hereford steers from Wyoming mat went to a feeder buyer at $6.00. the high est price paid on the open market for cattle to txi on feed in a great while. It ntust be borne In mind that the week before Christmas Invariably experiences a moderate demand tor fat sneep and lambs. iience it is not surnrisintf that with the flood of receipts at leading points there has been a very sharp break In values. As this market waa veiy high to begin with, as compared with eastern points, the full force of the break has been felt here. The very mild and unseasonable- weather has liso had a tendency to reduce the demand for mutton so that eastern markets have been more or less clogged, but with the result that western packers are buying very sparingly. mis morning advices from all points were discouraging, and as local packers did not appear to have any urgent orders. the trade was a drag from start to finish. Fortunately, the receipts of killers were light. Out of the sixteen cars reported in five cars were range feeder lambs, not fleshy enough for killers. That left only about eleven fresh cars of killers on sale, but in view of the fact that the demand was extremely light this waa a great plenty. frices . were at the best weak and from that down to quite a little lower even than yesieraay. The five cars of range lambs were Nevadas and they sold very" readily to a feeder buyer at $5.80. which looked like a good steady price. The fact ts that the few feeders coming have shown very little change ln spite of the fact that killers have been breaking down so rapidly. quotations on sneep and lambs: uooi to choice lambs. $ti.254T6.75: fair to good lambs, lo.76.ii 6. 26: feeding lambs. $4 .Wio.iO; good to choice light yearlings, $f).6o'fi5.76; fair to gtjod heavy yearlings, 84.76.15; feeding yearlings, $.00a-t.oO; good to choice wethers, $4.2Mi4.60; fair to good wethers, $4.00&4.25; feeding wethers. $3.50601.00; good to choice ewes, $3.76(4)4,00; fair to good ewes. $3,264(8.76: feeding ewes. $2.ttXutt.23; culls and bucks, $l.00i(2.00.
