market holds steady, with the demand in
the tirimury division less active. Jobbers
are doing a seasonable trade. In the men's
weur division storks of fancy overcoatings
are at a luw ebb and sigs for fall 1909
have been sold freely by one prmilnent
agent. Raw silk is unchanged. Staple hog

all along the line. The result was that th

The trade In beef steers was not overly
active at any time, although there seemed
to be considerable inquiry for the bette
grades. The market as a whole might be
described as steady to 10c lower than yes
terday. The market ond cows and heifers was In
about the same condition as the steer mar
ket, that la the movement was rather slow
and there seemed to be a luck of life and
snap to the trade. Prices In Some cases
looked about steady and others fully 10c
lower.
Good feeders were steady, the same as

Representative sales:
HOGS Receipts of hogs this morning
were the largest that they have been since
Wednesday of last week. The reports
from other selling points Indicated heavy
runs generally, with prices lower all along
the line. I'ndcr such conditions It whs
not surprising thai the market at this
point was slow to open and that the morn
ing was well advanced before buyers and
sellers really got down to buslnem. Prices
were generully JOfaloc lower than yester
day. Some of the best hogs possibly did
not show that, much decline, but on the
other hand, there were plenty that showed
fully that loss. A good many of the hogs
went at $5. 00:06. 75 and on up as high as
$5.85, whereas yesterday S5.7oii6.S5 bought
must of the hogs, with a top at $5.95.

sold up to $5.60, with a pretty decent kind
of ewe at $4.25. All in all it was a good,
healthy and entirely satisfactory market
so fur aa good kinds were concerned. As
noted yesterday, common and Inferior kinds
are slow sale, packers buying them only
when compelled to by a shortage In the
supply of the better grades.
Good feeders were fair sellers at steady
prices. Good ewes sold as high as $3.25.
