Following are the scores In, tbe two-men
end individuals bowled In the city tourna
ment Saturday night on the' Metropolitan
alleys. Captain Dick GrotU tied with Hull,
H. Prlmeau, Weber and Fiitscher, with a
core of 695. This seems to be a fad score
for the bowlers tn the city tournament.
Some of the best bowler are yet to bowl
and some big scores are looked for to

FOOT BALL PLATER NOW BANKER
Mlddleton, Aathor of Idaho Spread,
, Becomes a Financier. .
SPOKANB, Wash., Nov. 9.-(Speclal.)
Johnny Mlddleton, author of the famous
Idaho spread, coach of the team at Idaho
State college, Moscow, and quarterback of
the all-star northwestern foot ball team,
has thrown the padded garments onto the
top shelf and kicked the pigskin over the
fence and become a banker.
This announcement cornea as a surprise
to many. Mlddleton has been regarded as
a fixture In northwestern foot ball, and
the game la really losing something by his
withdrawal. -He originated the spread play
last year. The, beauty of the .-play Is that
it has ten different possibilities for every
time it was tried. It Is Impossible to frame
a defense that will stop it. It Is a great
around gainer. As originally conceived by
Mlddleton tho spread may not last, but
the variations of the play are being worked
on every gridiron of the northwest today.
Mlddleton Is noted as a coaoh and player.
He played four years on the Idaho team
and was a star every season. He led the
college players of the northwest and was
selected all-star quarter for the college
teams. When his four years . were- over
ho was picked as a coach of the eleven
and his success was remarkable.
