Closed Complete Schedule of
Implement Dealers' Conren
tlon at Kaposltlon.
Perfection of details of fie program for
the National Corn exposition will occupy
the close atention of d. W. Wattles the
next few days and while the executive com
mittee of the exposition will assist him,
the matter will be largely in his hands. The
conclusion of a contract with the Unlver
' slty of Nebraska Qlee club and other
college musical orgunlsatlona came up at
an Important meeting of the executive com
mittee held Friday afternoon.
It's a far cry ono which would require a
big megaphone from the unattractive peel
ing from a "spud" grown amid the bogs
of the Oreen Island to the onvlronmpnt o'
the silver chafing dish heated with a deli
rate little colorless alcohol flame and pre
sided over by a charming young woman
Just hack with her escort from the theater
Hut that Is exactly what science Is doln,
In the transformation of waste farm proil
ucts Into a smokeless, Bootless, odorles
fuel supply.
Between the corn husk and the unpleas
ant potito peel and the deliriously
creamed potatoes cooked for an after-theater
supper with alcohol of the deniturel
kind between these two there Is a big dis
tance, what a melodramatist would call a
vast gulf.
And Incidentally and In passing, It may
be remarked that the chafing dish prov
ender cooked by . the aforesaid young
woman Is much less likely to put a crimp
n a youth's bankroll than a cafe check.
Denatured Alcohol aa Fnel.
The denatured alcohol whlen will be used
to operate the chafing dishes and other
cooking apparatus of the domestic science
section of the Corn exposition will be made
right on the spot a the government still,
which Is now being set up In the basement
of the auditorium.
The program la announced for the meet
ing of the South Platte Implement Dealers'
association, which, with the Nebraska and
Western Iowa associations, will meet dur
ing and with the Corn exposition. The

A BAD BACK IS A BAD HANDICAP
Few of us can afford to be Idle, and to
those who work, a sound, strong back U
a necessity. A bad back prevents rest or
sleep, and aches all day with a dull, tirtd
throb.
lon't think because sharp twinges strike
you when you lift, or twist about, or
1 each, that your work Is too hard for
you. Bad backs sr common In every
occupation. Those aches and twinges aie
only Nature's warning that th kidneys
need help.
It is easy to tell If the kidneys are
sick, and are not thoroughly doing their
work of filtering the blood. Backache Is
an early warning. Headache, disxy spells,
puffy swellings under the eyej or In the
ankles and leg, nervousness. Irritability,
rheumatic pain snd tired feelings also
tell of kidney Ills.
Examine the urine. If It is extremely
pale and light, the kidneys are not get
ting out all of that urtv poison. If It is
dark colored and thick, passages too fre
quent, or too scanty. If there Is any sedi
ment deposited when it stands. If pas
sages burn or pain, that is proof enough
that ths kidneys need attention. 1

Mrs. Rose Bellsteln of J004 Elm street
Omaha. Neb., aays: "Both Mr. Beilsteln
and I have used Doan's Kidney Pills
procured from fichaefer's Cut Price Drug
Store, and think very highly of them
Several years ago I had occasion to use
this remedy for a case of kidney com
plaint that had annoyed me for some time
causing Intense backaches and pains
across my loins. If 1 lifted anything
heavy my suffering was always increased
Doan'a Kidney pill, were at length
brought to my attention and after pro

proved of such great benefit to me that I
allowed ray experience with them to be
published In the newspapers. During the
time that has since elapsed I have been
free from any form of kidney trouble and
It Is only natural that I should have great
confidence In Doan's Kidney Pills."
J. Ogden Armour, head of the great Ar
mour Packing conn-any, with his party,
consisting of Arthur Meeker of Chicago,
Lawrence. Armour of. Kansas City and
Howard Gillette of Chicago, arrived In
South Omaha on their special train from
Kansas City Friday morning. Mr. Armour
and the party rounded up their big plant
at South Omiha, going through all depart
ments, then stopped In the general offices
to glance over the mall, read telegrams,
brag on the weather and jolly the news
paper men.
Mr. Armour was In especially fine humor
at the end of the round through the plant.
'Everythrng Is fine," said he. "We are
still In the business, the country Is mora
than prosperous and Tsft Is elected."
"We are still bragging about It here,"
was suggested by a reporter for The Uec.
"Yes," sa!I Mr. Armour, "The Bee has a
right to lots, of credit, even If Nebraska
-lipped up a little."
As to his trip Mr. Armour said: "No,
I this trip Is not slgnlf cant. It Is one of our
annual affairs. We make the trip about
once a year. We came up from Kansas
City latt nUht. We win visit Denver, Colo
rado Springs, Fort Worth, Bt. Louis and be
back In Chlcngo in about a w.ek. Mr. Gil
lette Is the only memo' r of the party who
is not connected with the company. He Is
with us to take In the sights."
Then, snl'f.ng the fresh air, he observed:
Regular Omaha weather here, a dash of
snow, keen, bright air, then the sun. It la
great. I hear you have been having this
all the fall. Milder? Well, this just suits
me.
Will Keep oa Working;,
"The best word for South Omaha Is wo
are going to keep on working hard as we
can. Taft says we can as long as wa nre
good. I know little about affairs In detail.
Could not help you In that line. Mr.
O'Hern . Is a good man to see on that
scrre."
In the course of the conversation Mr.
Armour dispatched several telegrams. In
troduced friends and read his letters, ask
ing for more. At the same time all who
approached him were perfectly at ease.
This Is said to be a faculty of the busy
man.
Mr. O'Hern, the superintendent of the
plant, said he thought Mr. Armour was
well pleased with the present state of
affairs In Omaha and the west as far aa
he has gone. The evident prosperity of
the west seemed to elate him.
"I don't know of any plans outside of
the fixed lines on which we have been
working for the last year. Most of these
have become mere routine and would not
be of great Interest. We are Introducing
some Improvements In processes, but some
what in the nature of experiment. We
may have something worth while." ,
$25,000 from Mrs.- Phlpps, a wealthy Denver
woman, by threatening to use dynamite.
Mr. Sawyer was seen in Omaha and de.
nled the story. He. said, he has not boon ..in
Denver for a week. He made his last
run west last Saturday, leaving Omaha
Friday evening and reaching Denver the
following morning. Ho left that evening
and arrived in ' Omaha Sunday. , The
threatened' dynamiting was on the Monday
following.
"I never saw this-wman," said Mr.
Sawyer at hie home, at 120 South Thlrty
aeventh street, Friday afternoon. "I have
been running into Donvor but a ahbrt time
and have never piloted any woman, or man
either, to a hotel thore. All I know about,
