The area of high pressure, exte-i'idlng' irom
the western Canadian provinces'-south, over
the valleys to the west gulf states Friday
morning, has continued slowly eastward,
and now overlies the lake region, Ohio
valley and southern states, with it crest
over the Lake Superior region. The high
1 followed by areas of relatively low pres
sure over the southwest and extreme
northwest and a high on the Pacific slope.
The eastern low Is disappearing slowly off
the upper Atlantic, coast. Temperatures are
slightly lower in the middle Mississippi
and Ohio valley, and much lower In the
eastern states. Killing frost were general
In the Ohio valley and lower lake region.
It Is somewhat warmer In the northwest,
mountain districts and east to the Missouri
river, and the temperature will rise slowly
in this vicinity tonight and Sunday, with
continued fair weather.

CATTLE There was nothing In the
yard to make a market today and re
ceipts have been very light all the week.
The total, as will be noted from the table
above, has been a little more than half as
large as last week's large receipts and
very much smaller than a year ago. The
arrivals have constated almost entirely of
rangers.
Not enough cornfed steers have put 111
an appearance this week to make a test
of values, but what few have arrived have
sold quite readily at very satisfactory
figure. The fact 1 receipt of rangers
have been free sellers throughout th week
packers have been forced to pay more at
tention to cornfeds. There wa a fair de
mand for desirable range beef and the
market ait the close I 15cji26c higher than
the close of last week so far as the better
grades are concerned. This, however, does
not any more than make up for the de
cline last week. Common and Inferior
grades have been slow sale all the week.
The better grades of cows and heifers
have been free sellr throughout the week
and price on such are safely 26c higher
than last week's close. This practically
wipes out the decline of last week. On the
other hands canners and all Inferior kind
of cow atuff have been alow sellers, with
very little Improvement in prices. The life
and activity which ha characterized the
tanner trade for some weeks back has to
a great extent disappeared.' The tendency
at the present time Is to widen the range
between common canners and good to
choice killers.
Blocker and feeders were very active
sellers during the early part of the week
and prices advanced sharply. At the close
some little weakness has been developed,
as is very apt to be the case at the end of
the week In that branch of the trade. Still
prices are safely l&'ul&c higher than the
low point last week.

cornfed iteers, $6.27'7.00; fair to good corn
fed steers, $o.o &.26; common to fair corn
fed steer. $4.0uti6.50; good to choice range

service official tonight arrested Joseph
Hunt and W. H. Boyle, charged with count
erfeiting, and after searching their rooms
found an equipment for counterfeiting dol
lars and half dollars. It is said a search
for the men has been conducted for fifteen
years. Unable to give bond, they were
locked up.

smaller than last week. As noted yester
day, the market throughout tlie wick has

strong, especially during the first half of
the week, although some little weakness
was developed later on.
A considerable proportion of the arrivals
this week have cotisislrd of feeders and
the interest in the trade has centered
largely on that class of stuff. Th coun
try appeared mote anxious for supplies
than last week and the market on some
das was nut only very brick, but prices
looked high. At the chase of the week it
Is safe to quole feeder lamb. 25c higher
and in some cases the medium grades
have shown even more advuuee than that.
Feeder sheep have also sold slronger, al
though they have not advanced In the

The annual meeting of the Nebraska So
clety of the Daughters of the American
Revolution Is being held In this city to
day. Nine chapters are represented by
about forty delegates and visitors. The
first session was held yesterday after
noon and was opened by devotional ex
ercises, conducted by Mrs. F. P. Law
rence of this city. Mrs. A. E. Llttlechlld
welcomed the visitors and Mrs. F. W.
Kenny responded.
