The Grand Island foot ball management has reconsidered Its action of earlier date in asking that the Belleme game be can celled and at last gives consent to the game. Munsger I Iambi In of Bellevue received a communication Thursday morning; In which the Grand Island manager, Howard Pheaf, agrees to fill the date as scheduled, all former objections being omitted. Arrange ments will be started at once for the game Saturday. Manager Hamblln had Just completed ar rangements with the Diets Athletic club for a practice game, to replace the game at Grand Inland, supposedly called off. This arrangement was Immediately cancelled. It has been a rather unsatisfactory week for the team. The scrubs have been show ing the varsity up in irreat style, due In part to the fact that many new men have been coming- out to scrimmage. Pome of these new men have shown up well. Jones, brother of the player who was critically hurt last season, is out and making a good showing. Churchill also ts doing well. Stookey is playing fine at quarter. He handles the ball well and uses good head work. Morter Is getting bark Into old-time form. 8ome new plays have been perfected this week to be used Saturday. j Klrk la la Bad Condition. IOWA CITY. FEAH HASKELL 1DIA With Three Among; the Best Men Oa, rornhnakere In Bad Shsp. LINCOLN, Oct. II-tFtpcPlal With Minor, Kroger snd Reltier so badly In jured thRt they will probably not be ablo to be In the game Saturday, and with other members of the Cornhusker team suffer ing more or less from Injuries received In the Minnesota game. Coach "King" Cole fears that Nebraska will meet a Tartar In the Haskell Indians. "I am more worried about this game with the Haakells Saturday," said the coach today, "than about any game on the schedule so fsr this season. Kroger, whose knee has been hurt, has not been out for practice this week. Beltxer we must save up for Iowa and can not run any chance of having him hurt his shoulder any more. Minor Is still limping around with a bad ankle and does not seem to Improve very much. I am afraid these three men will have to stay out of the game Saturday and thla will break up our backfleld. Tem ple, who Is a good substitute for one of the hslfbatks or fullback, has been home this week and has missed two days' prac tice. He Will not be In any too good con dition to go into the frame. The linemen are all right, but we will need more than a strong line to win against the Hsskells. "Little dope has come up to us on what the Haskell Indians are doing, but from what Information T have ben able to gather they appear to be exceedingly slron. Last Saturday they held the strong Washburn team, which defeated Kansas last season In a 11 to 4 score. I talked with a man yesterday who saw that game and he says the Indians played one of the best games he ever witnessed. After they got started In the first h;ilf they ripped big holes In the heavy Wash burn line. He says they have a remark able drop kicker in Island, who drooped the ball over the crossbars for a goal from the thlrtv-flve-vard line In the first halt Island was taken out In the second half. owing to an Injury. Had he remained in the game the Haskeiis wouia pronaory have made at least two more drop kicks for they were several times within kicking rifatmce or the Washburn eroal. "We are not going to be surprised, as Iowa was by Missouri last Saturday. We know the Haskeiis are not going to be an easy terim to play. Under the best condi tions Nebraska would have a hard game with them, but Saturday when three of our best men will be absent from the Corn huskers' lineup the outlook Is very gloomy. This is no bear story I am giving- out, for you know I am not Inclined to fill report ers up with hot air. The Haskeiis are a dangerous foe and Nebraska will have to play the hardest kind of a game to win. As I said before, the game Is giving me more worry than any other on the sched ule so far this fall has occasioned." Practice has been held each afternoon since Monday at Antelope rark. but several of the veterans have failed to report. Tues. day afternoon the only regulars out were Captain Harvey. Frum, Johnaon. Cooke and Beltser. This afternoon all were on the grounds, but Peltier, Kroger and Minor kept out of practice. Despite the absence of the regulars from the lineup the varsity today was able to play rings around the scrubs. The forward pass Was used with good effect on several occasions and netted the varsity two touch downs. The scrubs made several long gains against the regulars and once took the ball down to the twenty-five-yard line, but there they were forced to kick and failed to score. Kroger's absence from the Cornhusker lineup Saturday will leave them without a man to place or drop kick, and In case the Indians are strong enough to keep Ne braska from crossing- their goal they may be able to surprise the sanguine of the Ne braska rooters. Rirkner will probably do the bunting for Nebraska In the absence of Beltser, but unless his kicking Is a" great improvement over that of the Minnesota game Nebraska will be kept busy most of the game defending- its goal line near the fifteen and twenty-yard lines. FOinTH RVN.MSG OK AtTO RACK Serenteea Cars Expected to Enter for Vaaderbllt Cap. NEW YORK, Oct. 22. Every one of the seventeen cars expected to face the starter dt daybreak of Saturday fur the fourth running of the Vanderbilt cup race was taken over the 23.4i miles of the circuit this morning for final practice. Although ro attempts were made by any f tin prospective contestants to approximate rac ing speed for any consiileiablf distance, a number let out to the last, n itch coming down the elght-mllo straluhtaw ay of the Jericho turnpike from Woodhurv to West bury, snd In this stretcli repeatedly whlnU by at better than seventy miles an heur. It Is over this portion of the course that most of the speeding will be done Satur day, as over the cemer.t surface of the Miitcr Parkway part on" tho circuit, the drivers have discovered fast, time to be fatal to t'res. In this respect the Motor Parkwav has proved a great dtFinpnoint ment In the event of 600.0M) people Jour neying to Ixng Island to witness thla event, as was the case with the last Van derbilt cup race, two years ago, however, the fenced In condition of the parkway will more than offset whatever disadvan tages the unyielding quality of Its suifaee offers. The real cli max to the racing situation that has threatened the Latonla racetrack, as well as the general racing prospects through out Kentucky, was reached today when a suit was filed in the Kenton county cir cuit court against the Kentucky Racing commission to have Its action revoking the license of Latonla scratched from the com mission's minutes, and a revelew of the revocation be held by the court. In sub stance this means that It will probably take ten days to review the case and probably a month before the court of ap peals will finish It, In case it Is carried to the highest tribunal In the state. In this meantime racing will continue. U Is said by the Latonla officials that the action of the commission Is unconsti tutional and the fight means that the track must close forever or the racing commis sion will become a thing of the past offi cially. The commission ruled that parl-mutuels alone were to be allowed In Kentucky. Latonla demonstrated by its spring meet ing that the track cculd not b run ex cept at a great loss under the mutuel sys tem and pleaded with the commission for the bookmakers. These efforts at settle ment, however, were In vain. Summaries of today's races: First race, five furlongs:. Dr. Barkley 010, Troxler, i to li won.
