LEAVE NAME AND ADDRESS
FOR OUR NEXT
CIRCULAR.
Jeatlcally to the dais and ascend the throne
t& "await the coming of the queen. With
Tactful tread now comes the special maids,
btautlful in their white gowns, and carry-
"mi? aloft their dlrectolre staffs, with bas
kets or ferns' pendant. Three abreast they
mitve down the hall and take their places,
with tbe Board of Governors In front of the
'dull. The special maids were, Misses Bess
Buir.n, Dorothy Morgan, Caroline Barka
luw, baia Bourke,. Elisabeth Congdon,
Helen DavU, Gwendoline White, Ruth
iuoorhead, Gladys Peters. Marlam Patter
sun and Katherlne Powell.
After the maids have taken their places
the bund sounds the blast for the entrance
of' the quien and the spectators again
turn their eyes, keen with curiosity, to the
canopied doorway in which the beloved
consort will appear. The band begins the
coronation march from Tannhauser, and the
.door opens and Miss Catherine Baum, the
queen's crownboarcr, appears bearing the
Mara. Then the queen sweeps majestically
Into the hall, and again the cries of fealty
arise as the spectators recognise Miss Jean
Cudahy as the favored one. The party
. marches slowly down the hall, the queen's
little pages, Burdette Klrkendall and Rats
tun Scoble, bearing her cape gracefully
from the floor. The queen takes her seat
beside the king and then the applause
breaks forth again.
At the will of the monarch the Board
of Governors and the maids at the foot
of the dais turn and do obeisance to the
royal pair and then ascend the steps and
take their position on either side of .the
throne. 1
Crow mtbe ftarea.
Silently but with poompous ceremony the
bishops place bejeweled crowns, Insignia of
the highest rank lr all Qutvera, on the
heads of the king and his queen, and once
more the shouts of the multitude voice their
Joy. Then the royal family gathered
around the throne to offer their individual
congratulations to the king and ted by the
Board of Governors and the maids the
festal dance In honor of the new mon
arch begins.
The queen was gowned in an empire cos
tume of white net, embroidered in orchids
of silver and gold with pearl centers and
fashioned after the models of the Josephine
period. A conventional design of orchids
bordered the skirt and the very short
bodice waa heavily embroidered with span
gles. A girdle of gold and short drapes
over the shoulders were finished with gold
tassels. The bodice was cut decollette with
shallow chemisette of shirred tulle and
short sleeves of embroidered net. A high
collar of pearls and a necklace of diamonds
with pendant diamonds and pearls fin
ished the neck. Over the gown was worn
the crimson velvet cornatlon robe with Its
borders of ermine and lining of white satin,
and this was held In place with ropes of
pearls and finished with fleur de lis em
broidered at the corners.
The maids were all gowned alike In white
decollette costumes that swept the floor.
Over these were worn shoulder robes, the
front panels of white satin being edged
with gold embroidery and across the breast
the coat-of-arms of the house of Ak-Sar-Ben
also embroidered In gold. The back
panels of yellow velvet were edged with
white silk embroidery and hung to the
floor. Each maid carried a directolre staff,
surmounted with little baskets, from whtoh
dropped vines of green that wound round
the staff. Twists of gold ribbon, com
bined with yellow flowers, were worn In
the hair. v
