1 iisjr effect today 011 the local market, prloen
At the close being off Vn"-'. compared
with ycterda's final quorai ions. Corn
nd oata closed steady, but provisions were
weak.
The sltuatlo'-i In the norlliw.isi. s re
lated to the early movenient of Hie new
crop was the domlniint factor in the wheat
market. Arrival of new wheat today at
Minneapolis were eighty-five cars, against
fifty-five cre yesterday and twenty-seven
the previous day. H was expected also
that Monday's arrivals would be much
latgnr. Tiie materializing last, night of
predicted frosts In many localities of the
rtprlng wheal country, liad apparently al
most no effect and only caused mild firm
ness, at the start, which eftset the weak
ness of foreign markets. Soon alter the
opening price slumped nearly lu In all
deliveries following a break at Minneapolis,
September declining from M':4c to 923o
and December I'cm MTiC to (Me. On the de
cline the r,-.arkit received lair support from
leading elevator interests, which atc.tdied
prices, but the lack of any export demand
and the alow ness of trade in catfh wheat
precluded any material rally. Additional
welling pre&sure developed late in th day,
owing to a break of 12c in tin- price of No.
1 northern wheat at Minneapolis, bial offer
ings. were not liberal. Kor Feptentfter the
low point of the day wss reached at 92.,c.
and for December at Msr. The market
cloned easy, with September at 9!V. Final
llgures on December were 94 . Clearances
of wheat and flour wr eual to 4K,00
bushels. Primary reoelplp were 7T.L,00
bushels, compared with 718.O0O buslmls on
the .corresponding day one year ago. Min
neapolis, Diiluth and Chicago reported
receipts of SM cars, against M cars last
week and 279 cars one year ago.
The weakness of wheat Included con
siderable selling of corn, but the market
licld fairly steady, owing to the low tem
peratures which prevailed? last night over
Ihn corn lielt. The close was steady, with
prices HW'io higher to ytr. lower. Septem
ber closud at 77c. and December at 5i'p
k"ic. Ixcal receipts were 186 cars, with 41
cars of contract grade.
There was very llttla trade In the oats
market and prices held comparatively
wteady. At the clo.;e prices were a shade
lower to o higher- with September at
f,o and December at itc. Jcal receipt
were 122 cars.
Provisions wer weak all day because of
profit-taking sales in the September and
October deliveries. Pork showed the great
est losses, the decline In that being from
.7'c to 47M?e. fnrni the high point of the
day. The cloae was weak at almoBt ih
bottom. Bepteajiber pork cloe at S14.1".
Jrrt at S9.UV. and ribs at JSCS.
ICstlmated receipts for Monday are:

CATTLE There were no fresh r ccipts
of any consequence and it was practically
a holiday In the yarcis mo far as th cattle
trade was concerned, there bring very llsht
business doing. The receipts for tin- w ck
have shown a vciy large gain over nil
previous weeks of recent dale, heinB the
largest of any week since the oigrhiK nf
the range season. The arrivals hn.i.' con
sisted very largely of rangers, there b-Mne
very few native cattle here this wpfk.
A few corn-fed steers have been reported
I In nearly every day, but the supply has
not been ovei ly laigc; nt the same time
packers have given the preference to rnn"
'cattle. o Hint possibly it was Just as well
that the supply of corn-feds was no larger,
j What few there were sold very frce'y at
good, firm prices and at the close of the
! week the market is ipiotcd steady t' a lit
! te stronger than a week ago. Good range
beeves have been in quite liberal supply,
but there have been none ton msriy to
meet ths lequlrementa of the market, with
the result that the trade has been active
on most days and pries fully steady. It
lias In fact been on entirely satisfactory
market throughout the week. ,
The situation as regards cows and heifers
has riot been so favorable lo the selling in
terest. Tin- Hiinnlv has been very large all
the week, with the rc-.iil-. that price broKc
badly the first of the week and. though n
part of the loss was mac up. I lie market
at the close is still irr2ric lower in niosi
eases, fanners have been in exceptionally
good demand and notwithstanding Ilie
break in heller grades of cow stuff they
have rold fully steady all the week.
The best fleshv feeders have been free
sellers ;.ll the week and at the cloe are
strong as compared with last week. On
the other hand, common to medium gra.lt
of feeders, rough heavy feeders and light
Blockers have gradiilly eased off until at
the close of the week they are aafely 10'rj.
