Glldden Tourists in Maine,
PORTLAND. Me., July 21. The tenth
days' run of the Glldden automobile tour,
which was begun at the? usual hoar this
morning, was arranged entirely in the state
of Maine, the start being from this point
and tho destination R.mgeli-y lake, a
distance of about 142 miles. The wet con
dition of the roads made the going more
difficult than that of uny day In New
England territory thus far, Ther were
several bad hills to be encountered, and
the schedule of nineteen and one-fourth
miles an hour provided to govern the days
run so that the elapsed time between start
and fnlsh might be seven hours, called for
a test of the hill climbing at-iltties of the
several cars.

Domestic Item For the benefit of farm
ers' wives, who have to milk cows, we ad
vise them to try taking an old bed blanket
or cloth of any kind with a weight on each
corner and throw it over the cow's bark
and see how quiet she will . stand to be
milked while the files are blitzing around
by the thousands. ' Just try It. Verde! Out

others to read proof for us and tho result
wa several serious typographical errors.
Among others was one relative to the tlmo
of publishing the screen ordlnunce. The
time a given In the paper was September
2. 1908, which should have read September
2, 1904. Another editorial was queered by
substituting Salt Lake for Suit Creek. Weil,
