The movements of the base ball scouts are surely mysterious. Louis Hellbronef of Cincinnati has been In Omaha for a week and Stanley Roblson of St. Louis has been here three days and has now accom panied Fa Kourke to Lincoln' further to watch some of the players at that place. Several things have happened which tend to show the way the wind s liable to blow. Hetlbroner has been scouting around Iowa looking up ball players. After sev eral conferences with Pa Rourke, he went to burning the wires with Waterloo and other towns In Iowa. After several wires had been burned he started for Iowa and the report immediately gained circulation that he had gone as a scout for Pa Rourke. The Champions are in need of pitchers. That Is most evident. Hall has trot won a game in seven and sooms to need a change or something. He has a splendid side arm ball, but he sticks to that so long his arm wears out and he Is not able to go the route of a long game. Captain Franck. and Pa Rourke both have tried to get him out of the rut into which he has worked himself and to vary his de livery, but. he sticks to his side arm work and Invariably weakens before the game li over. As readers of The Bee know Stanley Roblson needs some lnfielders for his St. Louis Nationals. The fans at the game also know that he has been watching Austin most closely during the games . he. has been here. He Is sticking to the Omaha team and the players seem to think there Is some deal Incubating between Pa and Stanley. Pa also has Autrey for sale, but the wise ones think that Austin is the boy he la after. There is no gainsaying the fact that Austin showed some remarkably clever work during the. last two games in Omaha. His fielding at times was one of the few redeeming fotaures of the game the Rourke family put up against Lincoln In the exhibition. When the Champions return to Omaha Sunday for the transferred game .from Lincoln, it may bo that some new material will have reported and be ready for a trial. CITY LEAGUE 19 TO GO THROUGH The Benson and the Diets association teams declared their Intention of with drawing rrom tne league immediately After considerable Darlevlnsr thev were in. duced to remain In the league until their places are filled by other teams. There was some talk of taking In the Signal Corps team of Fort Omaha. It was also suggested that the Ideal Hustlers of Coun cil Bluffs be given a place. A double header will be plaved at the Diet park Sunday, when the Diets association team will play the Merrhanta, and the Diets Lumber company will clash with the Stock Yards' team of South Omaha. The Ster lings will play the Townsends at Benson ana tne uensnn team plays Florence at ine latter s grounds. Seward Wins nt Friend. FRIEND. Neb.. July 11 (8ecial Tele grain.)
