The receipts of cattle and hotrs con tinue light. This is partly explained by tin railroad situation. The nanh,?ers ray that the local flood has had much to do with the short runs of csttle and hogs this week. The roadDeds hae in many cases been washed out and it has been impossible to insure safe delivery. For this reason the al.lppers, being warned, held their con signments. Prices have ranged high enough to be an inducement. Coupled with the local reason, is the fact that last fall, at a season when -most of the Nebraska and Jowa farmers stock up with feeders, times were threatening disaster. The feeder mar ket went to pieces and many cattle were kept on the ranges which should now be coming in ss com fed stock. All the com- mission men predict a speedy revival in the live stock msrket within the next four weeks. City Wins Damage Case. P.ingling Brothers will give a street parade next Tuesday," said James J. Brady, their newspaper man, last night. "More than that, it will be the longest and richest circus street display ever seen in Omaha. "A couple of years sgo an effort was made to get Rlngllng Brothers to cut out the street pageant, and they earned the good will of every boy and girl in the land by saying 'no.' It would have saved a good deal of money and work to have acted upon this suggestion, but they had taught the public to look for this great feature of circus day, and to chawge front after they had made it a thing of dignity and beauty, and had become the leaders of the businese, was not in their 'make up.' You know what a tame and weather-worn affair the ususl circus parade was until Ringling Brothers put pride and ginger and sensible cost Into It. The spirit of cleanliness, order and am bition to excell, which I. as made their show the standard of the world separated their street pageant from all others, a fact which msy have had something to do with the I desire of others to omit it. "As a matter of fact." says Mr. Brady. "I am reliably Informed the reason the next biggest show to P.ingling Brothers cut out this parade, was due to unequal or ganization. They could not work out the daily schedule of a Ftreet display and two performances. As cities grow. circus grounds are going further and further out into the outskirts, and frequently the morn ing haul from the trains to the grounds is a couple of miles. This, with the tax of building a circus settlement, parading, feed ing and performing calls for a rare, if not r..fj.t . To move a colony of mole than 1.2W people each day and establish It miles away with every requirement of a well governed community is a task that calls for perfect and amaring svsiem. It takes '. e:g.-ity-f ive ears to make th dally transfer, from which you may gather an Ides of the size of the show. All tne cars belong to Ringling Brothers The railroad furnishes the motive power.
