MONEY SUPPLY REDUNDANT C'aah C'aatlaaes to Flow to New York and Hates for Loans Are Easier .Session Closes at One O'clock. NEW YORK, June 2fi.-The decision to pay tribute to liie memory of ex-President Cleveland by ending the Stock exchange session at 1 o clock today served to further curtail the already shrunken proportions of the dealings In stocks. The session wis Inslgnlfit aut in every way. Fluctuations In prlita were narrow and they shifted In an uncertain manner. The day's Incidents were little calculated to stir the market from Its apathy. The redundant condition of the money market gives promise of be ing Increased by the week's continued In flow of cash to New York, and borrowing term are so aay as to offer no urgency to holders of si cnrTles to realise on them.. At the same tl: demand for securities Is well nigh stagnant. The market in Eu rope is almost dead. There Is some quiet buying today, which was attributed to the further influence of the cheerful views ex pressed by J. P. Morgan yesterdsy before returning to Europe. The only semblsnce of activity occurred Just st the close, when prices enjoyed an uplift that placed half a dozen of the leaders a point or more over laxt night's level. While no effect was produced on the Stock exchange by the fact, rates for demand loans suRgested a possible recurrence of the outward fjow of gold. Discount rates at Berlin, however, were lower. In other words, there was not enough or anytninu on sale to make a test of the market or to really establish quotations. The feeling. however, was very weak ana ouyers did not appear at all anxious for the few loads In sight. As viewed from a seller's standpoint the sheep market has been about aa unsatis factory as could well be Imagined. Re ceipts this week havs been very liberal, showing a large gain Over a year ago, and other market points have also been liber ally supplied. In fact receipts have been larger than expected. At the same time the demand for the product has been dis appointingly small. The country has not been buying the product and In conse quence of this the demand for live sheep and lambs has been unusually, small. The light demand In connection with liberal receipts has caused the market to be dull and weak to lower every day. Frlcea at the present time on lambs are safely 26fp 30c lower than last week, with sheep 5oc lower and In some cases more than that. Semi annual clearance sales of dry goods were well attended, country merchants replenish ing depleted stocks at satisfactory prices, and reports from all sections of the coun try testify to a good distribution of light weight wearing apparel. Idle freight cars have been reduced lo less than 850.0CO, and railroud shops are resuming repair work. DRADSTIIEET'S IIEVIEW OK TRADE Retail Business la Helped by Warn. V.'ratber. NEW YORK.
