Weakness in tne wheat market developed
late In the day aftvr a period of extreme
nervousness. The market opened firm on
good demand by several of the leading com
i mission housea, but an easier tone resulted
i from liberal realizing by local holders, who
based their action on the absence oi rain
in the southwest, wtiere harvesting-Is In
progress. News tf the day was about
evenly divided and In consequence fiUCtu
aiea nervoualy until the final hour, wnen

iieavy tne remainder of the day. The ar
rival at southwest market of a few car of
new wheat and a poor demand for casn
wheat here helped to weaken the market

Clearance of wheat and flour were equal
to 73,000 bu. Exports for the week as shown

reported In there were twenty-eigni car
direct to packers. Thu the number on
sale wa hardly large enough to make a
market. Beef steers especially were In
very moderate supply.
It was a typical Friday' market, the
trade being alow and dull throughout with
out any new or Interesting features being
developed.
Cows and heifers, which constituted the
bulk of the offerings, were not only slow,
but generally a little lower again than
yesterday, at least salesmen who had any
number of cows seemed to feel that way.
There were a few odd and end of
atocknrs which sold In about the same,
notches a yesterday.
The market Tcr the week I generally X
7-rto lower on both beef steers and cow
stuff. Th very bet grade of corn-fed
teer are poeeibly not more than 10-220o
lower. The worst eufferer are the com
mon to medium grassy cow and heifer.

offering were plenty large enpugh to
aatiaty the demand, which wa not only
limited, but far from urgent. Buyer did
not appear to be at all anxlou for further
aupplle of either sheep or lambs and did
not try very hard to buy them. In fact It
waa a very alow and' weak market from
tart to finish.
The market on sheep and lambs this week
ha been very (low and lower practically
every day. In that respect the market ha ' roenta
Deen just tne reverse ot last week, wnicn
waa both active and higher every, day. It
will be remembered that the market last
wek was quoted 31.0u-it.25 higher. Just
about half of that advance has been lost
this week. In other words, the market la
around (oc lower that at the close of last
week, with some of the medium kinds
showing more than that off, and some of
the most desirable kinds possibly not quite
that much.
