June U.-The stork msrket subsided another degree towards stagna tion todav. The sliicg s'i currents of the price movement were scarcely dis tinguishable and the low record of total sales for a day over a year past was touched. Such narrow price movement as there waa did not hold, and the constant fluctuation with the narrow range oi movement proved the uncertainty ou m. speculative temper. While the demand for atocka waa thua lethargic it waa accountod favorable that offers were on an Insigni ficant scale. The feeling of discouragement over tne effect of the cut In steel prices was un questionable, the trails authorities being in general agreement that no active r"i' of demand waa coming out of the con cesalons. The frank spoken opinion of the Iron Age that the price reoucuun, while meeting concessions already made by Independent mark-rs. was not radical enough to Induce new buying, waa taken to Indicate a probability that further re ductlona would follow before active re vival of demand would set In. Notice was taken of the rise in pricea of meats of all kinds, which waa announced yesterday in connection with the f-ai that price re ductions of steel products would be fol lowed necessarily by wage reductions Tha closing of the subscription for the L nlon Pacific bonds, both here and In London, In advance of the date set on the ground that the amount waa already more thaii covered amounted to an announcement ot the auccess of the subscription. Mean time the dealings In the new bonds when Issued were continued In the outside mar ket with aettllng to an extent which wiped out the previous premium over the sub scription price. This waa made ground for some Belling of Union Pacific by the board room traders, which made that stock bew In tb narrow market existing. Brooklyn Transit was sold on the as sumption that the passage of the anti racing bllla at Albanv would affecf the large traffic of that company In carrying crowds to the race tracks. A eharp rise in foreign exchange rates was an incident of the dav in response to a hardening In the private rate of discount In London, which In turn was. Influenced hv the with drawals of gold from London for Russian account. Prices of stocks ended the day near where they left off yesterday. ' . Bonds were heavy. Total sales. $!.79U.nn0 par value. Tiie arrival consisted largely of corn-fed cat tle, but with quite a liberal sprinkling ot cow stuff and a few feeders. The market on beef steers opened early and active and the offerings of all de sirable killers rapidly changed hands. Good cattle were at least lOo higher, the best kinds being safely 60c higher than at the close of laat week. A bunch of heavy cattle sold up to 37.90, the highest price paid so far this season. It will be noted that the market Is rapidly approaching the highest point on record at tni marxet, which wsi 38.15 for beef steers. While choice cattle were selling higher today, the common to medium kinds were at least steady and In some cases possibly a Utile better. The spread between choice cattle and common to medium cattle la widening very perceptibly and that fact naturally makes the common to medium kinds look lower when in reality they are very nearly stationary. There were not far from twenty cars of cows and heifers this morning, but the moat of them were on the grass order. Good dry-lot stuff waa strong to g little higher, but the graaser. especially those on the common order, were slow, the feel ing on them being weak every day. There was a small sprinkling of stockers and feeders In the yarde, which sold about steady with yesterday, but the market yes terday waa lotrJfto lower. Pretty good kinds of 9n0-pound cattle sold up to 34.86 today. While the best feeders have not shown very much change, light stocket. especially those on the common order, are decidedly lower than they were laat week.
