Hitchcock, In spealng before the Real Estate exchange Wednes day noon, said: ; - "The things President Roosevelt does In defiance of law or congressional order are generally for the Interests of the people." "I believe that when the final chapter In the history of Theodore Roosevelt Is writ ten," said the democratic representative, "that starting the movement for the con servation of our resources will be the most Important and lasting thing which will be said about the man. All his other reforms and accomplishments are not In the same class other men had those Ideas before him, but the one thing of awakening the American people to the waste going on In the country Is due to the work of President Roosevelt." Growth of Titles. Mr. Hitchcock spoke almost an hour to the real estate dealers, telling them of the growth of the cities of the United States because of organizations of business men ar.d dramatically describing the fight of Senator Robert M. La Follette of Wisconsin sgainst the Aldrlch-Vrecland bill on the floor of the senate. "It was remarkable because the senator from Wisconsin made his address and the courageous fight in the face of the opposi tion of the men who have been there a life time, run the senate and think they own It, men like Hale and Allison." Mr. Hitchcock told the real estate dealers thst undoubtedly Aldrlch had an under standing with Vice President Fairbanks before the session that he, Aldrlch. waa to walk to the front of the senate chamber and Fairbanks was to recognise him Just at the opportune time to demand a roll call and arbitrarily prevent any other sen ator speaking after Senator Gore of Okla homa concluded.
