Flnlsh.
Pa's Champions celebrated their return
home from the western trip by winning
the opening game Saturday from Denver by
the wore of 4 to it Faster and more Inter
eating ball ha seldom been seen on thT
old lot and, the changing fortunes of the
gwmp kept the fans on the qui vlve until
ZhIusU.v, the last man up, had struck out
In the ninth Inning with two men on bases.
Manager Irwin and Captain Frsnck sent
In arilithnawa tn Hn the twlrttnsr. and fhev 1
both pitched splendid" ball most of the day.
Adams was Invincible during the first part
of the game, while Hollenbeck was a little
shaky, and Hollenbeck steadied down dur
ing the last part of the game and held
Denver safe, when Adams was less steady.
Twice lcnver took the lead, and twice
the Champions overhauled and tied the
Mountaineers. The score was tied In the
eighth Inning, when Omaha made two, and
thus It stood until the finish. A ninth In
ning rally by Denver seemed to threaten
the gamo for a time, but Hollenbeck re
fused to have any balloon ascension and
Imply plowed along, making a good fin
ish by striking out Zalusky.
The weather man seemed to know the
.Champions had returned and consequently
dished up the finest day of the year. The
fans knew It was a fine day and turned
out in large numbers, and then not to dis
appoint all these, Pa sent them home happy
by winning the game.
Trouble la the Tbird.
Adams hit the first man up for Omaha
nd thn first man up for Denver hit the
ball, but these mishaps counted for naught.
The real trouble started In the third In
ning, when Waldron, the first man up,
made a clean single, Just as he did in the
opening Inning. Ira Belden helped him
along by sacrif Icing, and then White drove
ll the first score by another clean single.
Thus the more stood until the last of
the fifth, wl.cn Dr. II. John Welch started
the fun witli a long double to the right
field fence. Uondlng sacrificed him to third
and Till Belden drove him home with a
single and the score was tied.
It c'id not stay a tie very long, however,
for two lucky doubles In the sixth gave
Denver another run. Klnneally, who had
taken White's place because the latter
wrenched his ankle sliding Into second, hit
to Hid third, but the ball bourided out of
Aii-tln's reach.' A passed ball put the run
ner on third and he scored on Cassady's
double, which' soared over Welch's head.
Welch was playing In close.
Omaha Ties "core In Sixth.
Omaha tied the score again In the last
half "of the sixth on a hit and a series of
mtrluiria. With one out Captain Franck
slnfilcd and Autrey was hit with the ball.
Franck wus leading off second far enough
to force- a throw from. Zalusky. The ball

covered Franck was on third, scoring on
Householder's long fly and out to Casnady.
The eighth wuh a had inning for Mr. Ad

which Irwin passed up to Downie, but that
was where the mis-tuke whs made, for by
the time Duwr.le got the ball across the
