R PROSPECT TO BEAT KANSAS
Corah askrr Team la Bad Condltloa to
Wla Satardny.
LINCOLN. May --T. Special.) IRaln and
delinquencies in studies hit th Cornhusker
track team a hard blow this week, leaving
It in u weakened ccndltlon to meet the
Jayhawkers on the cinder path at Law
rence Saturday afternoon. Owing to the
heavy track and the wet field the Ne
braska men were not able .to do much
trainlnst out of doors uatll yesterday after
noon. They then were compelled to work
on a small plot of grans near the library
buildmg. In addition to tha grief over the
weather came the news yesterday that sev
eral of rhe candidates, who hsd been relied
upon as point winners, were dsllnauent in
their school work and Uiat they will, not
be allowed to go against Kansas.' The
most prominent of the men who fell under
th order of the faculty Is C. C. Collins,
tar weight man and a sure point winner
In any Missouri valley meet. His absence
from the shot put will weaken Nebraska
In the weights and probably give the Jay
hawkers some much needed pointtt.
Dr. Clapp, coach of the track team, is
feeling exceedingly gloomy over tho pros
pects for the Kansas meet. "This year.'
he said. In speaking about the coming
contest, "the Comhuskers will send the
weakest track team against Kansas that we
have mustered in several aessons. I be
lieve that the Jayhawkers will win the
meet Saturday. There Is only a slight doss I
billty of our coming out victorious. I look
for the Comhuskers to take first in the
100-yard dash, in the 220-yard dash. In the
weight events. In the hurdles and In the
one mile run. If they do that and at the
same time get several secrmds and two or
three other firsts, that I do not figure on
their taking, they may come out with lead
ing honor. This Inclement weather, now
ever, has oeen such a handicap to the men
this week that 1 am afraid they will not
be in good form to do a well as they
would have done a week earlier. I had
planned on giving the men some hard work,
but the rain spoiled all my plana and hurt
the BosDocts of the Comhuskers.
The Cornhusker track men win leave tor
Lawrence tomorrow afternoon. Sixteen men
ill make the trip, rney are ma i oiuns.
J. C. Knode, McMasters, Captain Alden,

hone, Bauman. Chain. Pat ton, Bently

The Last of the Antelopes An antelopo
was started up near Plalnfleld pnstoffice,
and they had a grand hunt and got the
