of rain tor Missouri and Kansas caused
weakness today In tin; local wheat, mantel,
the market for May clotting lower thun yes

The wheat market waa rather a tame af
fair and tho pit waa bearish ail day. Al
though the rain predicted yesterday for
Missouri, Kansas and Nehraska tailed to
materalice, . 1 lie oftlcial forecast lor wet
weaUiar in that section of the winter wheat
belt WM felt. The market was bearish on
crop teporta from the aouthweal, but tho
majority of them were conflicting. Kle
vator Interests and shorts were tne prin
, clpal buyers. , A moderate advance had a
strengthening Influence on wheat late in
the day. Tne market closed easy. May
opened at 83c, sold off to 92c and cloned
at WQ934c. Clearances of wheat and flour
wera equal to l,tO0 bu. Primary receipts
were 3W.00O bu., compared with 6.1,000 bu. a
year ago. Minneapolis, Puluth and Chi
cago reported receipts of i!70 cars, against
274 cars last week and 4114 cars a year ago.
Tha corn market was Inclined to he. weak
early in the day, owing to the decline In
wheat, but during the last half of the ses
sion a strong tone developed beovuse of ac
tive buying by shorts, which was based on
the likelihood that local receipts next week
will be much smaller. The close was firm.
May opened c lower at 6c, sold off to
bMiO and then advanced to liHc. The close
was 6Hifirtc. Local receipts were 211
cars, with 63 contract grade.
Oata were weak owing to favorable
weather In the southwest for the new crop.
May opened unchanged, sold off to 53c ami
closed at 63'ic. Local receipts were 155
cars. v
Provisions were rather weak at the start,
but a steadier tone developed later. At the
close May pork was up 5c at $13.30, ' lard
was 2c lower at and rlha 5c higher
at l7.12MrtJ7.16.
Estimated receipts for Monday: Wheat,
27 cars: coin, 184 cars; oats, 1M cars; hogs,
37.0110 head.

ing the low, and will probably extend
over the central valleys within the next

weather over' this Vicinity Sunday. Light
rains or snows occurred during the past
twenty-four hours in the- Eastern stales,
