The Exposition a.nd (he Exhibit
$250.00 for a single ear of corn!
Sounds ridiculous doesn't it? But that was the price
paid at auction, for the Grand Champion single ear at the
national show at Chicago last year.
Stop to think, why was It worth such a price?
The man who produced it didn't do it by accident; he
sppnt years of hard, patient. Intelligent work and study
and succeeded. He did better than any man has ever done
in this one thing. Moreover, he would not have majde tho
effort were It not for the National Corn Exposition.
"Corn Exposition" may sound pretty dry to the man
who doesn't raiBe corn. Just remember, though, that three-
fourths of the people living between the Alleghenies and the Rocky
mountains do raise corn or wheat and depend on their success In
raising it for their three meals a day.
It won't surprise you then that there will be between five and
six thousand exhibits at the Omaha show next D-ecember. These will
Include all varieties of grains and grasses. They will be In competi
tion for prizes, to the value of $50,000.00.
While the educational Idea 1b the foundation of the Exposition,
the wonderfully beautiful effects, which can be gained in decoration,
will be a delight. The corn palace of some years ago will be out
classed, because now a combination with electrical effects will cre
ate a veritable, cereal fairyland.
It Is proposed to erect a mlnature corn palace at the west end
of the Auditorium, in which the moving picture show can be given.
Tho moving pictures will show actual work on farms, where the most
approved methods are uBed.
Wonderful progress has been made In the manufacture of farm
Implements and equipment. Every progressive farmer wanta to be
well posted and the basement of the Auditorium and the lots adjoin
ing will be used for extensive exhibits of machinery In operation.
How are the cereals Seed in manufacture? In several hundred
ways. Working exhibits showing the uses to which they are put will
not only be interesting, but tell the growers why they should special
ize. For example, one manufacturer wants corn with a high per cent
of oil; another with a large per cent of starch; and Its use as food
for beast and man, demands still different qualities.
The model kitchens and other methods of demonstrating values
from the food standpoint, will be Instructive as well as interesting.
Some special exhibits are being sought, such as one from the
Agricultural department, showing the newest results from experi
ment. Exhibit" from the various agricultural colleges and experi
ment stations will be like a visit to the colleges themselves. It is as
sured that Garton Bros., the great seed house of Warrington, Eng
land, will send an exhibit, and there is possibility: that Luther Bur
bank will make his first exhibit of his wonderful creations.
More than this, the Expositions will bring together the leaders
in agricultural thought,, the beads of commonwealths, the professors,
the leading seedsmen, the Implement manufacturers, the manufac
turers of cereal products, the men who deal In grain and the men
who raise it. Special days for various Interests will bring speakers
of national prominence. '
That people want to be aroused, as well bb instructed, is not
overlooked. The stage of the Auditorium . will be used for an ap
propriate splendid spectacular performance, Hiawatha having been
one of the themes suggested, while a band of real merit and other
musical features will make the exposition no less Instructive and
more enjoyable.

published, giving information regarding what the National Corn'Ex
position is and what It means to you and the whole United States.
