CHICAGO, Jan. 11. Expectation of in creased world's shipments was chiefly re sponsible for a bearish wheat market to day. The May option at the close was off Sc. t'orn closed Hp lower. Oats were lown c. Provisions showed losses of lrom n Opening dull, the wheat market showed a tendency to sag in the absence- of specu lative Interest. The selling movement that resulted In lower figures was due to an estimate for a foreign crop Journal that 1h world s shipments for the week would show a largo Increase. A decline at Liver pool of Wto was. reflected In the opening here. May being tibo lower at 1 06 at the start. A momentary show of improvement, based on a report of prob able shortage of the Russian crop, carried prices slightly higher, hut the advance was soon lost. May sold up to 81.06, but upon resumption of liquidation broke to ?l.0&y.i?f 1.05S. closing at Jl.06. a net loss of c. Primary receipt a were 621.000 bu., com pared with 566,000 tor the corresponding ly a year ago. Clearances of wheat and flour were equal to 631,000 bit. Minneapolis, TMilutli and Chicago reported receipts of SOo cars, as against 207 last week and ,324 a year ago. Corn opened steady on smaller country offerings, but broke sharply under the In fluence of liberal local receipts. Selling pressure was not great at the lower level, however, country advices of weather un favorable to the marketing of the crop acting In a measure as a cheek to the bear pressure. May opened '.tWe lower at 601,4 60V sold at 60'c, but dosed weak c above the bottom at 6ftc. lrfcal receipts were 412 cars, with none of contract grade. Trade in oats was extremely dull and was confined almost to operations by pit traders. There was more or less selling pressuro In sympathy with other grains and the tone was heavy. May opened a shade higher st 64'4c and sold between that figure and 63ir63V. wlure It . closed, iocal receipts were 133 cars. Provisions were fairly steady, a smaller run or hogs than anticipated offsetting fro offerings by packing Interests. The close showed a net loss, for May pork of 7Vic at $13.37Vi. Iard was down ZVfcc at JS.05. Ribs closed ZV: lower at $7.224- Kstlmaied receipts for Monday: Wheat, ears; corn, 677 cars; oats, 231 cars; hogs, 68.000 head.
