As was the cicse yesterdsy a considerahle proportion of tiie receipts consisted of cows and heifers, with warmed up or half fat steers aimost as numerous. Stockers and feeders were in very moderate supplv. Owing to the fact that receipts ol feed ers have ben pretty light of late, in fact lighter than the demand, buyers of that kind of cattle were out in the yard early this morning, and the feeders were the flrt to se;l it is safe to cay that everything desirable in the way of good feeding cattle sold very readily at good, firm prices. The market on beef steers was slow to open. Half or more of the receipts were still hnck when it was time for the mar ket to open and buyers were disposed to await the arrivals of late trains before doing very much business. As a result they were late about sTetttne out Into the yards, and It was still later before any business of consequence was transacted When the market final! v opened It wss on the basis ..f about steady prices for g.iod killi rs. with the less desirable kinds weaJt to :v lower. The demand proved to be fairly good so that the later market was if anything- quite a little better than the early. The feeling on the opening was also lower on ocas and heifers Buyers started ojt bidding IV lower and in some cases worse tran ti.at, hut it finally turned out about steady on the best grades and slow to a little lower on the other kinds. The demand wans good and the market showed more atrer.ar;:. toward the close than ex pected. Wuotations on cattle: Oood to choice cornled steers.
