The Oklahoma State Federation of Labor
at a recent meeting adopted a resolution

As a result of conferences held between
the Boston A Maine railroad officials and

baggage, signal, switch and crossing de
partments have secured an Increase In
wages.
A congress of women servants recently
held in Copenhagen, Denmark, and at
tended by fifteen delegates, resolved to
ask the government to enforce the law
forbidding mistresses to employ their serv
ants after 7 p. m. on ordinary days or
3 p. m. on Sundays.
Attorney General Bingham followed In
the footsteps of Governor Hanly of Indiana,
and turned down the appeal of the miner
of the state for a modification of the
mining law enacted last winter. Their ob
jection to the shot tiring provision was not
sustained. Mr. Bingham said that the pur
pose of the law Is plain and that It will
have to stand that way.
It Is announced from the headquarters
of the National Postal Clerks' association
that they will have a lobby before the
Sixtieth congress In advocacy of an eight
hour day, thirty days' vacation and fifteen,
days' sick leave, with more promotions
above the $1,100 limit. The association will
ask for a hospital at Almagorda, N. M.,
for the treatment of tuberculosis amonr
Its member. The association will suit
congress to pass a law opening new chan
nels from the postal service to higher civil
service positions.
The printers' trade union held an Inter
national congress In Paris, France, re
cently. The printers' trade union ef
France, Germany, Austria, Hungary. Cro
atia, Servla, Italy, Luxemburg, Belgium.
Denmark, Sweden and Portugal were repre
sented Two British trade unions, the
London Society of Compositors and the
Scotch Printers' union, were also repre
sented, though they have not yet jollied
the International organization and had no
vote. The first part of the proceedings '
were taken up with a discussion of pro
posals for building up an International war
chest for the defense of members, espe
cially in lands where the organization I
weak, and for Instituting an efficient con
trol over the organizations In the various
countries so that the money of the Inter
national federation shall not be frivolously
spent.
