This has been a week of liberal cattle receipts. Th total lor the six days shows a considerable gain ever th previous week, but 1 only an a pur with a year ago. A usual at this season of the year the arrivals have consisted almost entirely of range cattle, with a comparatively light sprinkling of native and corn feds, Tba general tendency ot value has been downward, although on soms certain kinds the change has been small. Liberal receipts of all kinds of beef cattle gave buyers opportunity to discriminate closely and at the same time to bear down on the kind that they were not especially in need of. Thus corn fed cattle In a good many caaes show a decline of as much as low 15c for the week, the best heavy cattlo not escaping th decline. O" th other hand good range beef has ben in pretty good demand all the week and a the supply of the desirable killers has not been excessive, steady prices have been gen erally maintained. It) fact not a few sellers quote the more desirable grades as a little stronger for the week. Cows and heifers hava been coming to market very liberally throughout the whole week, with tha result that prices have been crowded downward on practically all grades. A general decline of 10$15d can be safely quoted with some kinds possibly 25c lower than at tha close of last week. The country Is not yet feeding cattle any too freely. The futwe of the corn crop ia still rather uncertain. With the proepeot food for high prices for corn, not a few trmera talk that they would prefer selling their corn to feeding cattle. On th other hao,d any early frost that would prevent corn from maturing would compel as much larger number of farmers to rrf emu than would do so otherwise. It follow than that with the country buying none too freely the feeder market has shown weakness In the face of liberal receipts. While some kinds possibly are not very much lower the general run of feeders Is sofejy l&15o lower with common and In ferior grades of stockcrs slow sellers. isolations on cattle: Good to choke corn fed steers, 88.30(80.90; fair to good corn-fed cattle, 85.5018.30; common to fair corn-fed steers, I4 5i.j5 6; good to choK-e runtu steers, t5.o'6.8ti; fair to good range steer, 4 4.i5.): common to fair range steers, t3.50ft4.40; good to choice corn-fed cows and heifers, tl.50iiR.oO, good to choice grass ciws and heifers, S3.75ui.4u; fUr to good grass Cuws and heifers, ta.00ift3.7j; Common to fulr grass oows snd heifers, t?iti3fiO; good to choice stoclciTs and feeders, -ti. luffj 5. 26: fair to good stoclirrs snd feeders, MOCKir 4.60; common to fair stockers and feeders. t3.OOfff4.OOi HutlS-Tra'ns were lat this morning and the forenoon was far advanced before buyers and sell- is got down to busluaaa on a trading basis.
