Governor Sheldon ha taken the position that It I unnecessary to endeavor to harmonise the state and federal con stitutions In relation to recent apparent conflicts which have caused differences be tween federal courts and state government In the south. Ziebold of the West End Business Men's Association of St. Louts to appoint delegate to a national convention called to recommend state and national constitutional amendments In the hope of harmonlxlng state and federal Jurisdiction and authority. The resolution of the club calling th convention cite the North Caro lina conflict as evidence that the danger line Is being approached. Governor Shel don believe the convention Is being called in -the Interest of corporations. On August I Mrs. Lauf In left her to go to her claim, south of here, and be lore ah left tbe ho tel ah toll the proprietor that her daughter and husband. William Crane, would kill her, and ahe ordered the hotel keeper, A. J. Warrick, to hav an Inquest held as soon as the news came to him, and on Sunday morning th above named par tie drove in town and reported that on Saturday night they found the old woman dead In her house. The inquest waa held and th verdict of the coroner- Jury waa cause of death unknown. The stomach waa sent to a chemist In Bassett and his report haa not been received here yet. Last Monday Mrs. Wtlllsm Crane, a daughter of Mrs. Laufiln. who was found dead, created considerable excitement on the streets here by pretending to take poison to kill herself. She went down In front of C. F. Barnes, store. There she drank something and then fell on the aide walk and pretended to be dead. Dra. Bemy and Smith were called and In a few min utes she got out of the back door and at tempted to escape, but the marshal was called and he captured her and put her in Jail, and yesterday the board of Insanity commissioners waa called and Ita verdict waa mat ahe was practicing a fake. Dickinson with stock of hardware and furniture, the upper story being used by the Odd Fellows and two or three other lodge. Mr. Dick inson 1 th heaviest loser, as he carried very large stock of hardware and furni ture.
