Mike Welday, who when with Dea Molnea
was one of the fastest of fleldore and best
hitters In the league, la hitting at the mod
est clip of .161.
The battle for the supremacy In the
American league will continue today with
Chicago at New York and Detroit at Weah
lngton. Which hna the edge?
If Pueblo had a long enough atretoh
ahead of It there Is no telling where that
hard hitting bunch Wuld land. As It la It
la not so terribly far behind.
Chicago seems to have a knack of getting
a hit Just at the right time to win those
extra Inning games.' If It Is not Chance it
Is Moran or some of the others.
Another frame tossed off after It seemed
to be safeiy stored away by Omaha. But
then Lincoln lost two on the same day.
putting It Just two points ahead of Dea
Moines.
Clymer not only leads the hitters, but
also excels In stolen bases and In run get
ting for the time he has been with Wash
ington. A change of atmosphere la good for
lota of people.
Mulltn, Detroit's crack pitcher, ts golnt
to miss that 11,000 bonus If he doesn't hurry.
He was to have had 1500 extra If he won
thirty games, but he stands little show now
of winnlpg them. His record up to Monday
Mornlng was twelve games won and eleven
lost. Mullln Is one of those don't-care sort
of fellows, who has to be coaxed Into doing;
what he Is able to do.
