F. 8. Heeter, auperintendent of th Bt.
Paul publlo schools, was the guest of
Superintendent Davidson Tuesday, with
whom he inspected the High school build
ing and the manual training department
of the Cass street school. Mr. Heeter is
on his way to Los Angeles te attend the
convention of the National Educational
association, which meets there next week.
He has been superintendent of, the Bt
Paul school system for the last year, hav
ing been advanced to that position from
that of supervisor ot the grammar grades.
It la his intention to spend a day of in
spection in each of the principal cities on
Ms route Denver, Colorado Springs and
Salt Lake City.
A feature ot the Omaha schools of es
pecial Interest to him ' was the work In
manual training. 8t Paul has recently
voted $S0O,00Q for thr construction of four
new high schools, on of which will be
technical In Ha courses, and will be situ
ated In g downtown district Mr. - Heeter
is strongly in favor Of : having several
high schools rather than one large one. .
The office M supervisor of manual -grain
ing ha recently been created in St Paul,
and the newly ejected official will probably
visit Omaha next fall to examine the sys
tem here. Mr. Heeter was greatly pleased
with the facilities for manual instruction
at the Cass school, which Mr. Davidson
demonstrated and described to him. St
Paul's new schools will house 600 pupils
In the technical school, and L700, 300 and
300, rcspocllvely. In the other three.
Superintendent Davidson returned Tuss
day morning from Lincoln, where he has
been lecturing before the summer school
at the university. His subjects ,wer
"Froebel and th Kindergarten" and "The
Human Touch In Teaching." Previous to
that he was lecturing In Kansaa.
