Additional reports of daman to winter wheat In Kansas formed the chlof reason for renewed strengthed today In tha local wheat market. . At tho cloae wheat for September dollvery was up He. Corn showed a net gain of So. Oats were 4o higher. Provisions were up a ahade to Ua. Many of the advices from Kansas were extremely posslmlstlc, declaring that be cause of injury by green bugs and un favorable weather tho new Crop will not run more than eight bushels per acre. Re ports from Oklahoma where threshing has already begun, claimed that the yield In that state was very disappointing, avert ing from t to 6 bnshelH per aero. These advloes were supplemented by reports from the spring wheat country that an army 'of green bugs Is advancing with great rapidity through the wheat fields of Minne sota and tne imkotas. This news Held the market strong slmost all day. A decrease of .fl,or twitnem'itr'tM mnaa"'viwbiei supply, as shown by Bradsrreers, was an other bullish . Influence. Trading was ac tive all day, and the market closed Arm. September opened unchanged to fee ntgher at S to 9440. sold at 93Vfcc. advanced to too, and closed at 9440. Clearances ot wheat and flour were equal to 171,600 bushels. . Primary receipts were 890,0 O bushels against SCT.WO bushels, for the same day last year. Minneapolis, Duluth and Chicago reported receipts of 637 cars, against 3Sf7 cars last wee It and 241 cars a year M"-x' The com market was firm for the greater part of the day because of active demand from commission houses and cash Inter est. Higher prices at Liverpool,- heavy sales by shippers, and numerous reports from Illinois telling of late seeding were factors that aided the bulls. Offerings came mainly from holders. The olose wa steady. September opened H"riC higher at Uftt3a. sold between C2gr20 and 63V, and closed at 61o. Local receipts wera 824 ears, with 867 cars of oontract grade. The feature of trading In oats was the activity and strength of the Jury delivery wtilch was In urgent demand by shorts. The likelihood that very little grain from the new crop will be available for delivery on July contracts caused the brlak de mand. Reports of damage by green bugs in the oat fields of Illinois, Indiana and Iowa had a strengthening v effect upon the more distant deliver!. The market cloed strong. September oats opened t(iSi higher at 8(864jO, sold off to 8AiytSio and then advaneed to 87a. -The close was at 164(0. Local receipts were 161 cars. Trading In provisions was quiet and the market was firm because of small re ceipts of hogs at all western packing centers. At the close September pork was up llVfro at 816.07H- Lard was a shade higher at 18 87H!&i-9d. Ribs were 47Uo higher at 88.18. U 36 THE OMAHA NEW YORK STOCKS AND BONDS Liitless Indifference is the Dominant Tone of Market TRADEHS WATCH GOLD EXPORTS Irg Esisftncita for Frases Catna Rise la Call and Time V Rate Small Nat De cline General. NEW TORK, Jun . Listless indiffer ence was the domlnsnt tone of the stock market today. There was some extension In the early dealings of yesterday's upward movement, but by the expiration of the ttrst hour all the buying orders In sight had been executed and left the market easily vulnerable to sutwequent reaction. The announcement of an engagement of gold for export to Paris tomorrow also served to reinforce the warning of deple tion of money market resources. A fur ther outgo of gold on Thursday has been taken as granted owing to the facilities by fast steamers vailing on that day. The anticipation of the movement by one day carried a suggestion of urgency whtrn made a sensational Impression. Taken with the shipments of Isst Saturday and the expected outgo on Thursday, today s engagement already points to a practical exhaustion of the surplus reserves of the banks before the week Is out. Roth tho call and time money markets were affected by this outlook today and ruled at higher rates. London also was reported disturbed over the money outlook and British con sols slipped a fraction lower than the re cent low record for upwards of sixty years past. Discounts In the London market held practically at the bank rate. A further ad vance meantime In the sterling exchange rste at Perls gave point to the discussion of possible Inducement to be offered bv the Bank of Fngland to draw gold from New York. The vanishing surplus re serves, with the eve of the semi-annual settlements approaching, discouraged any disposition to extend marginal holdings in tho stock market. Some brokers profess the hope that the sums to be disbursed in the progress of the semi-annual settle ments. Including the redemption by the government of 4 per cents of 1907, may stimulate Inveotment demand. Up to this time, however, there has been no sign of the preliminary buying for Investment, es pecially In the bond market, which pre cedes ordinarily a period of distribution of profits. It Is the conviction of some of the Investment commission houses that " waiting demand of this character which would become active on any signifi cant demonstration that the long decline In prices has ended. Some disappointment was professed by operators In Reading over the action of the directors of the Central Railroad Of New Jersey In declaring only the regular quar terly dividend on that stock. This was ac cepted apparently as a definite refutMnn 2; assertions that a rise on the Reading dividend this week was In contemplation. A more probable Index of the character of the recent operations In Reading was the rumor set afloat of buying In the Union Pacific Interest looking to the formation of an ocean to ocean system. This rumor seems to grandiose to fit the extremely modest dimension of today's market and had much to do with awakening suspicion and prompting selling to realize. Reading and Union Pacific so far overshadowed the whole market In activity that their reaction carried prices as a whole downwards. Cheerful ronorts from the crop regions and the favorable weekly bulletin of the weather buresu did not avail to arrest the reactionary tendency. The plan to distribute 200 pet cent in collateral bonds to stockholders of the Ad ams Kxnroes company caused a 10 point rise In that stock but was without Influ ence on the general list. Small declines re sujted generally from the dav's business. . sJere steady. Total sales, par val ue. IRROOn. Everything In the way of good cattle was disposed of at an early hour. On th other band, the light and medium cattle and everything lacking flesh was slow sale. In fact cattle of that description were more or lest neg lected. The large runs of Texans at Chi cago and at southern markets are sup plying the demand for cheap beef and are, as usual, taking the place of the' lighter and less desirable of the corn feds. There was no change In the cow and heifer market. It was, ns usual, a catch-as-catch-can market, some stuff selling quite readily at very satisfactory prices and again equally good stuff went begging for a euyer. There was very little doing in Blockers and feeders and no change In th market. Representative sales: No. It ... 4.... 16.... I. ... II. ... II.... II.... 14.... u.... I. ... 14.... I....
