Stealing the machine from In front of the
home of Frank Martin, 632 South Thirty
seventh street, two young men rode about
the cly In Miss Helen Millard's electric
runabout Wednesday night and then left It
burning at Seventeenth and Clark streets,
calling up the Martin home from a aaloon
and telling what they had done. The police
were notified and when the-automobile had
been found and taken to the Powell garage
on Farnam street. It was found to have
been damaged to the extent of about $400.
Misses Helen and Carrie Millard, nieces
of Senator Millard, with their brother,
Ezra Millard, left their home at the Winona
i apartments In the automobile to attend a
party given by Mrs. Frank Martin and Mrs.
George Barker at the Martin home, leaving
the machine directly In front. Nothing was
known of the theft until someone called up
on the telephone and confessed to having
run away with It and left It almost ruined.
So far as lias been discovered, no one
saw the boys to notice them except the
43) saloon keeper near Seventeenth and Clark
streets, whose telephone they used. He
350 heard them tell about the automobile and
I gave the police the only description secured.
Detectives were put on the case Thursday
