The Rourke family celebrated Ita retum
from a run around the circuit by winning
the opening (tame from Pueblo at Vinton
street park Saturday afternoon by the
acore of ft to 2. The game waa Intereet
Ing all the way through. The Puebe had
Thompson In the hole every inning but
the eighth, and a few timely hlta would
have changed the tide of victory. Thomp
aon pitched gcid ball, however, and the
Omaha team hit at the right time back
of him and that tella the tale. Buck
Frsnck brought In the flrat run with a
well-placed hit and Thompson brought In
the next two with a hit. Graham cinched
the game with a triple to the middle gar
des. .-
Opposed to Thompaon waa Fitxgerald,
supposedly the beat Pueblo had to trot
out, but he waa unfortunate that the
Omaha hlta came Juat right to loae the
game for him. Pueblo started out aa
though It waa going to do thlnga to Mr.
Thompson. The long-legged McOiWray
hit the ball to right the flrat time up,
end to make thlnga good he reached first
base every time he came to bat. Ryan
sacrificed him on and Ryan waa caught
napping at first. Mac would have been
rauirht. but Dolan muffed the ball. Cook
walked and Elwert aingled, but the heavy,
hitting Melcholr struck out with a man
on second and third.
Omaha Starts la Third.
Omaha made the flrat run In the third
Inning. .Thompaon. walked and waa
brought home on Franck'a single. Two
more runa were made in the alxth in
ning, when all aorta of thlnga happened.
Welch walked and Dolan atruck out. Aua
tln aingled and Graham hit an easy
(rounder to Corhan, who tossed the ball
to Elwert. Elwert muffed the easy
throw and the bases were filled. Gondlng
hit to Fltagerald and Welch was extin
guished at the plate, with two out and
Thompson coming to bat. Thompson is
not expected to make many hits in the
courae of the year, but yesterday he mads
pne of them, and hie single brought Gra
ham and Austin home. Belden struck
out.
Pueblo started out to tie the spore In
the seventh inning and came within one
of doing it. Smith walked and Fits
struck out. Mac walked and Smith came
home on Ryan'a single. Cook hit for a
double, scoring Mac, and then misfortune
overtook the Puebs. Elwert hit to Gra
ham, who threw home to catch Ryan.
Ryan outsprlnted Gondlng toward third
and reached third before Austin could
touch him. Austin, however, was able to
ctch Cook before he could return to sec
ond. When Tnompson naa mh u
osltlon ln--the.kojr.a- double steal was
attempted by Ryan and Elwert. Thomp
son threw the ball to Dolan, wnn got
the ball In time to block off Elwert and
then threw to Gondlng In time to catch
Ryan at the plate.
Game Cinched In Sewanth.
Omaha cinched the game In the sev
enth inning. Franck opened with a three
sacker and came home on Autrey's out
field out. Welch made first on Ryan s
fumble and Dolan waa hit with a pitched
