CATTLE There waa no change tn tha
market for the current day, there not being
enough here to cut any figure with the
trade. For tha week the receipts show a
coneideraoie gain over tho previous week
and a large gain over a year ago. Tha
large receipts have bean tha governing
factor In tha marked
Under the Influence of large recelpta of
beat steers, both at this point as well as
at other markets, prlcea broke sharply
during tha first halt of the week. The
market on Monday was quoted l"o lower
and again on Tuesday the same decline waa
recorded. Wednesday's market was still
weaker. On Thursdav prlcea recovered
somewhat and the Improvement was fully
maintained on Friday. Thus at the close
of the week beef steers are rlisht at lUtjlie
lower than at the close of last week.
What has bean said regarding the market
on beet steers would apply In most re
aped s to the cow and heiler market. Dur
ing the first half of tha week prices con
tinued .downward, but steadied up during
the latter pnrt. At the close the general
market la safely liji5c lower than at the
close of the previous woek. Southern mar
kets are beginning to get a supply of
south wesi em graaaer. which in the near
fuMr will cut a big figure on the market.
While receipts have been tho controlling
feature of the fat cattle market, the
weather has had most to do with the
feeder market. With the corn market ad
vancing under the influence of unfavorable
weather, and with pastures very short and
unpromising, tha feeder trade this week
came almost to a standstill. Tha large
receipts the first of the week moved very
alowly and prices broke L'.ft'ZSc. the de
cllne being heaviest on weighty cattle
lacking quality. Inferior stockers also
suffered severely. The best sellers were
the light stock cattle of good quality. Dur
ing the latter part of the week the market
took on a Uttie more activity, the lower
prices apparently snmmat'ng buying, so j
that at the close of the week the yards
are pretty well cleaned up. I
