fil'he continued absence of rain In Kan- "

caused a strong ODenlng In the wheat pit,
there being an active general demand. An
advance of Vx&c in the price of wheat
at Liverpool, said to have been due to
unfavorable crop reports from this ooun
try and ab-o advices of a similar kind from
Germany und other parts of Europe, served
to stimulate additional bullish sentiment
among lucuP traders. Demand continued
urgent all day and In spite of heavy real
izing sales prices were well maintained. A
report from New York which claimed that
ninety boatloads of wheat had been taken
there for export tended to Inspire fresh
enthualuem among the bulls late In the
seaelon. Primary receipts were liberal, to
tal arrivals today being 743,000 bushels,
compared with 272.000 bushels for the cor
responding day a year ago. Thla brought
out active profit-taking, but all offerings
were readily absorbed. The market closed
strong. July opened if-Sc to WtfSO

then advanced to 81Tc. The Oioae waa at

were ejual to i:3,0u0 bushel. Minneapolis.
Imluth and Chicago reported receipts of
Vjo cars, against X3 cars last week and 177
cars a year ago.
Trading in. corn waa mora active man
for some time paat and the tune of the
market waa strong. A sharp advance In
the price of corn at Kansas City had a
bullish effect on the market here. Other
Influences contributing to the strength
was the advanoe In wheat small recelpta
and unfavorable weather for farm work.
Shorts and commission houses were the
principal buyers, while local longs were
the chief sellers. The market dosed
strong. July opened HWio to 5 higher,
at 4eaf-tx7c, advanced to 4H'o-tflc and
closed at 44c. Ixx-ai recelpta War Ul

Oata were quite strong early In the day
because of numerous damage reporta and
Mao because of the strength of wheat.
lAtar the market reacted somewhat, owing
M toe free selling by longs. The volume
tf trading was only moderate. Increased
sfferlngs from the country had a de
pressing effect. July opened io to Hac

There waa litue trading In provisions
ind the tone of the market waa rather
weak. A fc-'ulOo decline In the price of live
hogs brought out moderate selling by lo

from aborts. At the close July pork was

future Is recognised to be the outcome of
the year's crops, the stock market shows
some sensitiveness to the uhlftln eron re

as Inconclusive In the determination of the

the admitted existence of unfavorable con

the general feeling of uncertainty over
the whole business.
The lack of decided response In the stock

deprives the advocates of higher prices

PATTLJQ Recelnta continue liberal and
the three days' supply has been about as
large aa for the first half of last week. The
quality of the offerings was very good, the
big bulk of the receipts showing that they
bad been In the feed lots for several
months.
Early advices from eastern markets were
decidedly bearish, and while there was the
usual good demand from all the local
dressed beef men, aa well as considerable
Inquiry for shipping account, all classes of
buyers were Insisting on lower prices and
bids were generally pretty close to lOo
lower than yesterday s figures. Salesmen
were slow to accept the situation and com
petition for the light and handy weight
grades waa sufficient to hold values very
nearly steaoy. Most or tne piu.111, nj
and unnnlsbed cattle, however, sold fVtflOo
lower than yesterday and were siow ai
that. .
There were only about thirty loads of
cows and heifers on the market and the
demand for them was fully as good aa It
haa been and the limited supply changed
hands In good season. Veal oalves were
slow and about 5c lower than last week.
The market for bulls, stags, etc, waa fairly
active and fully steady.
Receipts of stockers and feeders were
very light and with a good demand from
all the speculators the market was active
as far aa It went and prlcea were fully
steady. There was not a very extensive
country demand, but the general tone to
the market was fully steady.
