A boat Fifty Corporations Affected.
W. A. DeBord of Baldnga at DeBord.
who haa Investigated the subject. Is of the
opinion at least fifty corporations doing
business In Omaha are subject to the pro
visions of the act. Owing to the fact It
haa never been published, very few of
them are aware of lta provisions. Any
number ot agents may be registered, but
one of them must ba the state auditor.
The appointment must be certified by the
president and aecretary of the corporation.
Soma of the largest bualneaa Institutions
In Omaha are affected by the law.
The purpose of the law la to Inaure that
every corporation will have someone lo
cated In the state upon whom aervlce can
ba had In caae a resident of the state
wsnta to begin suit against the corporation.
It haa frequenly happened that corpora
tions from other states, after making con.
tracts and transacting business in Ne
braaka for some time, would withdraw.
After their withdrawal persona who had
cases against them would have to go to
some other state In order to get aervlce on
them. The new law la designed to force
them to keep agent In the - state at all
times upon whom proper service can be
had.
