tioned Saturday morning in Judge Troup's
court during the bearing of, petition for
naturalisation by prospective dtlsens. Mr.
Traiaor was a witness for August Helcko

who appears for tho state, cross-examined
Mr. Tralnor. The latter said ho was born
in 1& nd took out his papers In 1806. As
the law requires the cltlaen to be 21 years
old and witnesses must bo clUsens. Mr.
Trainee's evidence was not taken. After
he .eft the stand ha decided tho papers
must have been dated 18X7, aa bo la sure
they wore taken out after he became of
age. He waa kept busy explaining the
situation to his colleagues, who threatened
to refuse htm his salary next pay day.

to receive their papers by Judge Troup.

John M. Macfarland, her attorney, con
tends that under tho new Interstate com
merce act both the roads and employee
who are eugaged In Interstate commerce

law. Under the act the roads are subject
to damages for . accidental death in any
amount the Jury may fix. Under the slate
law there is a limit of 16,000 where death
results from Injury.

the local dealers. "Keep at It and Omaha

tion Interests, remember that I have seen
tho time when Chicago was In the same
position."
Mr. Reed has tho grading of grain down
to a fine point. It la told that he once had
a row with Superintendent Smiley of the
Inspection department of the Chicago
Board of Trade, refusing to accept tho
grading of Mr. Bmlley. They wero on a
boat and the discussion became so warm
that each threatened to throw the other
