Judge Munger Issued an order In th United States district court Wednesday morning declaring the Standard Beet Sugar company of Nebraska a bankrupt and ap pointed J. A. C. Kennedy of Omaha as re ceiver of the concern. Th plant of the Standard company Is lo cated at Ames, but Its headquarters are In Omaha. The case against It has been pending In tha federal courts In on form or the other for over a year. A civil suit Is still .pending In tha United States cir cuit court for an accounting, brought by creditors of the concern and In which the American Beet Sugar company Is In some way interested. Th allegation was made in the civil suit ' that an effort was being made by th American company to close the plant at Ames on the grounds that tha quality of beets supplied the factory at Ames were not up to the standard of saccharin requirements for th successful operation of the plant. Counter suits wer brought by other creditor against th clos ing of th plant and different actions hsv been brought by different parties at Inter est. Sir Horace Plunkett, MV P., has given authority to his local financial representa tive, Conrad Young, to erect a $40,000 store and fiat building at Twenty-fourth and It streets. South Omaha. It Mr. Young's present expectations regarding tenants ma terialise, he will start building operations In March. The building will be at the southwest Intersection of Twenty-fourth and L streets, where Sir Horace owns two vacant lots.' It will have a frontage of seventy five feet on Twenty-fourth, will extend eighty feet along L street, and will be three stories In height, the lower floor to be used for stores. Sir Horace also Is considering on or two Investment In Omaha, but on these no decision will be made for some time. After a careful Investigation of th situa tion. It was decided not to erect th pro posed duplicate of the Chatham. Sir Horac left Omaha Tuesday.
