RECEIVER FOR SUGAR PLANT
J. A. O. Keanedy Takes Chars; of
Btaadard Compaay's Affairs
Order of Coart.
Judge Munger Issued an order In th
United States district court Wednesday
morning declaring the Standard Beet Sugar
company of Nebraska a bankrupt and ap
pointed J. A. C. Kennedy of Omaha as re
ceiver of the concern.
Th plant of the Standard company Is lo
cated at Ames, but Its headquarters are In
Omaha. The case against It has been
pending In tha federal courts In on form
or the other for over a year. A civil suit
Is still .pending In tha United States cir
cuit court for an accounting, brought by
creditors of the concern and In which the
American Beet Sugar company Is In some
way interested. Th allegation was made
in the civil suit ' that an effort was being
made by th American company to close
the plant at Ames on the grounds that
tha quality of beets supplied the factory at
Ames were not up to the standard of
saccharin requirements for th successful
operation of the plant. Counter suits wer
brought by other creditor against th clos
ing of th plant and different actions hsv
been brought by different parties at Inter
est. A temporary compromise was affected
several months ago, but this ha now
culminated In th receivership.
