A delegation from the Farmer' Protective association called on the com pilssloners Saturday morning and asked the county to buy the dogs. They complained of an unusual number of losses In a carni val of petty crime that has been going on. Chicken houses and hog pen have been raided In various parts of the county, ana the climax vai reached In the holdup of the Wolf saloon on Dodge street. At the request of the delegation th-. board appointed Bherlft McDonald, Com missioner Solomon and Messrs. Plckard, Avery and Flynn of the association a com mittee to investigate the question of buy ing Diooa hound. Teamster to lie Witness In Trial of Cornelia V. Shea. Ben Kecgan. president of the Omahl Teamsters' union, has been summoned to Chicago to appear as a witness in the trial of Cornelius P. Shea, international president of the teamsters' union, charged with conspiracy In the Montgomery, Ward eV Co. strike last summer. The summons was received yesterday In the form rt a telegram from Tom L Hughes, secretary treasurer of the national body of teamsters. Mr. Keegan wired back he would leave for Chicago Monday. The summoning of Mr. Keegan waa the result of a atory published In The Bee last week, giving an Interview from Presi dent Keegan qn the conduct of Albert Young In Omaha during October, last year. In that Interview Mr. Keegan said Young, then nntlonal organiser for the teamsters, wanted to recruit the ranks of the local Unorganised teamster by bringing slug gers here from Chicago to Intimidate the unattached drivers. In the now fnmoui trial against Shea, Young and Joseph Schulti have turned state's witnesses, charging Shea, according to Keegan't statements, with the very thing Y'oung wanted to do In Omnha Inst year. Shea, International president of the team sters' union. Is charged with calling out the Montgomery-Ward teamxters to aid the garment workers In their strike. Th women's socloty of the Saratoga Congregational church report that the supper and sale held last Tuesday even ing was highly successful both socially and financially. Gross can ge aid from the Asso ciated Charities In Omaha, whenever he needs It and the association Is able to give It, so' Superintendent Morris iyn. Recently Gross applied to Mr. Morris for help. He wanted to reach Torrlngton. Wyo., to get work. Mr. Morris was sup plied by the Burlington with the trans portation and Mr. Gross went to Torrlng ton, the Associated Charities paying half of the fare. ' Friday the Burlington passenger depart ment received a letter from Gross and n check for J7.W), Its half of the ticket's cost. He said he had got work and was able and glad to repay the debt. Nearly $200 was raised in a few days from the business men of Benson tor this purpose. This awakening was exhibited by the reinarkuble series of meetings hold by Gipsy Smith at Boston and Portland, by Dr. Torrey at Omaha and by other emi nent evangelists in other parts of the country.
