SHKL1' Only nine cars were reported to
day, of this number six cars were .M.mtunt
wethers, wulch sold to a feeder buyer at
$5.10, the twine stun and the same price as
yesterday. In other words, there ere not
enough killers In sight to make any te?t
of the market. 80 ar as could be ob
served, the demand was not very urgent,
and moderate receipts ate greatly to be
preferred from now on until after the first
of the year. The fact Hint shippers are
still flooding Chicago will have tt tendency
to keep the markets down, not only iliore,
but at the river as well. The Chicago
Drovers' Journal remarked yesterday tint
sheep at that point were selling the lowest
of tile season. This fact In mentioned
merely to thoiv that nothing can be trained
by going by here to Chicago. Ihrre is
only one thing for sellers to do and thnt
is to wait until the demand revives again
alter the Hint of the. year, when pines
unquestionably will go as hlli as they
have been any time. To sacrifice fat stuff
by sending It to Chicago or any other mar
ket at the present time would be the neigh
or lollv.
There seems to he a very good demnnd at
thts point for feeders, and buyers soem to
pay very fulr prices, as evidenced by the
way the range stuff received this week was
sold.

here Is no exception to the general rule I
may be readily seen by reading market
reports from other selling points. Yester
day's Chicago Drovers' Journal said:
"Heavy liquidation the laat week has sent '
the market 2&&40C lower and a considerable
number of the $6,004)6.60 steers today were :
cited by both the buyers and salesmen as
selling 60c off from the high prices paid
ror tnem Monday of last week. The same
thing is true at this point, where prices
on a good many ot the cattle are at least
50o lower than the high time.
This morning the receipts were not quite
so heavy, but trains were very late In
arriving and the market was prolonged
throughout the whole day. The opening
was especially slow and during the morning
It looked more like Sunday in the yards
than like a Thursday. As to prices, it
was hard to say, ,but with the trade drag
ging It was hardly possible for them to be
any better, and the general market might
best be described aa slow and weak.
Cows and heifers were also dull some

supplies, at least not to any extent. The
result was that cows and heifers were also
slow and weak.
No great change took place in the feeder
