Preparation for the union revival meet
ings, which are scheduled to commence
Sunday evening. January 1.1, will be made ,
Tuesday evening at a meeting of the Sun
day School Workers' union of this city, to
be held In the First Baptist church. This
meeting will mark the commencement of j
active preparations for the revival services,
and from then, on there will be a number
of such meetings until arrangements are
finally completed and the revival In full
raring. The Hunday schools are expected
toi take an Important irt In the meet
ings and the opening services on Hunday ,
evening. January 13, will be preceded by
a grand Sunday school rally, which prob
ably will be held In the afternoon of that
uy.
At the meeting Tuesday evening B, T.
Mitchell of Dos Moines, general secretary
of the Iowa Bunday School association,
will be the principal speaker. The meet
ing will begin at 7:30 o'clock, and preceding
It luncheon will be served at 6:30 o'clock.
In order to arouse Interest in the meet
ings, Vh ouse-to-house visitation has been
planned for the week, following the first
' Sunday In January, and the general theme
of the discussion and talks at the meeting
Tuesday evening will be "The Approaching
House-to-House Visitation of Council
Bluffs." Rev. W. 11. Clemmer, pastor of
the First Christian church, is chairman
of the committee on the house-to-house
visitation and will lend the discussion.
There will be special music and the an
nual election of officers.
The officers of the Sunday School Work
era union are: President, Ir. N. J. Rice;
I Vice president. Prof. S. I. Thomas; secre
tary, L B. Klnne; treasurer, C. W. Coker.

Robs Him of Money Intended for a
Holiday Visit.
Raymond Berry, a young man from
Mitchell, Neb., discovered yesterday morn- '
lug on awakening at the Paxton hotel on j
South Main street, that he had been made i
a victim of misplaced confidence. Berry j
was on his way to spend the Christmas
holidays with relatives In Lansing, Mich., '
but the prospects now are that he will I
have to abandon the proposed visit and eat
his Christmas turkey at home. I
At Alliance, Berry struck up an acquaint- !
ance with an elderly man, named I'arker, j
and accompanied him to Council Bluffs.
I'arker was broke and at Berry's invita- i
tlon spent Friday night at the South Main j
street hostelry with him. Parker awoke I
first and when Berry arose he discovered I
that his elderly friend had left the hotel, j
At the some time Berry realised that his i
gold watch and chain and $4- In cash were I
missing. He couplvs the disappearance of
his money and watch with the sudden de
parture of his elderly chance acquaintance.
I'arker evidently Intended taking Berry's
overcoat also, but for some reason left it
In the hotel lobby after taking It from
the young man's room.
Berry at once, on discovering his loss,
notified the police and then crossed the
liver to see If he could locate Parker .
